Transmissabie Virus Causes Cattle Leukemia Leukemia or Lymphocytoma in cattle may be caused by a trans missabie virus, according to a re port in the North American Vet erinarian, a professional publica tion. Veterinary authorities warn that the disease is hard to recog nize in early stages because it causes symptoms similar to many more common diseases. Frequent symptoms include general run down appearance, di gestive disturbances, swollen abdomen, popping eyeballs fol lowed by rupture and collapse of the organ, enlarged lymph, glands, swollen muscles or geni tals. A Lancaster and Harrisburg milk distributor has entered into an agreement with Deputy Secre ary of Property and Supplies Fred G. Klunk to place one-half pin vending machines in some 40 locations where state employes may have opportunity at all times to secure nature’s most perfect fected, veterinary authorities said. Because the disease is trans missabie, a veterinarian should be consulted and a blood coufft made to determine the disease causing the symptoms and permit proper 'treatment before the condition spreads to the rest of the herd. N According to the agreement 8 per cent of the profits will go to the Pennsylvania Associa tion tor the Blind. The agreement, Klunk states, is in answer to Ex ecutive Directive No. 69, issued by Gov George M. Leader, direct ing that all state institutions be surveyed with the thought of hav ing milk vending machines placed wherever other vending machines oiler merchandise to state em ployes, students and guests - of state colleges and institutions. Reports of State Teachers Col leges indicate that many students are now patrons of these automa tic merchandisers of milk where the proceeds are used to support students’ activities funds. To Learn About Wheat Availability A Greek wheat trade mission is in the United States to learn more about the availability and quality of American wheat, ac cording to the U S Department of Agriculture. The mission was scheduled to arrive in New York Sunday and go directly to Omaha, Nebr, where it will begin a three-week study of the production, market ing and processing in the Hard Red Winter wheat-producing areas of Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
