All three are not signed pass that season, meaning the time for decisions Iegarding the future of the franchise. ‘The current starter, Donovan McNabb, insist that he would like to finish his career as an Eagle. McNabb will be making $10 million next season and would need a contract extension after that. McNabb has taken the Eagles to one Super Bowl in his tenure in Philadelphia and continues to make the same in-game mistakes. McNabb is 33 years of age and isn’t getting any younger. Maybe a change of scenery would benefit both the Eagles and the veteran quarterback. Lower Merion high school star Kobe Bryant was surpris- ingly met with many cheers as he took on the Sixers over a sold out crowd. Of course there were the classic Philadelphia boos mixed in with the cheers but for the most part Kobe played in the Wachovia Center with many Lakers fans. Allen Iverson played well in the Sixers loss. He had a team high 23 points and kept the crowd into the game by defending Bryant one on one. The two all-stars battled it out for their respective teams. It was a great night to see one of the best basketball players in the game come home and put on an exciting show for the crowd. Every time Kobe scored most of the crowd was in cheers which is uncharacteristic of Philadelphia fans. There were the trade deadline approach- ing, the Sixers might be moving some pieces trying to improve their team anyway they can. They have a young team who works hard but in the wins and losses column they are ome of the NBA’s worst teams. Team General Manager and President Ed Stefanski will have his hands full with the February 19th trade deadline approaching. Possible trades that have been discussed center around forward and star player Andre Ig- uodala, who is likely to be traded to Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, or Minnesota, among other places. However, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Kevin Kolb as their first pick in the 2007 draft for a reason. The 25 year old quarterback has been “seasoning” on the sideline for the past three seasons, waiting for his opportunity as a starter. Kolb has impressed many in his brief time starting for the midnight green in the 2009 season. He threw for over 700 = yards and four touchdowns. Then, there is Michael Vick. The Eagles seemingly helped him back on his feet and gave him the opportunity to show that he can still play in the NFL and now the 29 year old QB also wants a starting job. Vick signed a two year deal with the Eagles last August and will be making $5.2 million in 2010. He will likely be moved before the season begins in Sep- tember.
