In the beginning of New Moon, we find the characters Edward and Bella in a happy place. They finally took the necessary steps to overcoming their obstacles and have become a couple. Bella is more com- fortable with the Cullen family than ever before and forms a close bond with Edward’s sister, Alice. Each Cullen sibling has a special power, Edward can hear people’s thoughts and Alice has visions of events that are to take place, as long as the per- son does not change their course in life. While Edward and Bella are both very much in love, Edward be- lieves that because he and his family are vampires, even if they are consid- ered the good kind, he is constantly putting Bella’s life at risk. Edward decides that it is dward brutally-breaks off their rela- tionship, telling her that he is leav- ing and that it will be as if he never existed. Of course that is the obvi- ous decision the brooding boyfriend would make to put his loved ones safety first, even if it makes both of them absolutely miserable for a good majority of the book. Bella falls into a deep depres- sion until she becomes closer friends with Jacob Black, her father Charlie’s r= == “Coming Nexf (ssuel ST EPHENILE MEY ER AUTHOR OF THE NEW YORY T/NES BESTSELLER TWILIGHT Stephenie Meyer’s second installation in the best selling Twilight series. But Jacob is going through changes that Bella does not antici- pate. She believes that he is pulling away from her and that she is going to be abandoned all over again. She soon realizes that is not the case. What are the changes that Jacob goes through? Why does it cause Edward’s sister Alice to have a vision that throws Edward’s life into turmoil? Why does it lead our characters to Italy, where the head of the vampire society who make and break the rules in the vampire world reside? Will the Cullen’s ever return to Forks? Will Edward and Bella get back together or even live to see another day? Pick up your copy of New Moon and find out. !Horoscores, Crosswords, Comics! : and more! how on oon oon on on ow om om om om om em of By Kionna Limbscomb Lion's Eye Staff Writer kml122@psu.edu It seems like the bigger the celebrity you are, the more your name gets plastered all over the news. Drugs, sex and money are powerful downfalls in the Hollywood community. Even though Lindsey Lohan has publicly acknowledged that she is dating DJ Samantha Ronson, there is one aspect of her life that remains a secret. Less than a year since Lohan left rehab, friends and family members are concerned that the 22-year-old actress may have fallen back into her old pattern. According to Star Magazine, Lohan’s been drinking, doing cocaine and causing mayhem for months. Adding to the chaos, Star Magazine also states, Lohan never took recovery seri- _ously and went as far as quitting Alcoholic Anonymous. Lohan denies the allegations. Actor Heath Ledger’s parents finally reached an apreement, on their ANA RRO Long, Astoria made The Ataris a household name with the singles /n This Diary and their cover of Boys of Summer (originally done by Don Henley). They hit their high point with End is Forever. Many pop punk fans will tell you their masterpiece was 1999’s Blue Skies, Broken Hearts... Next 12 Exits but I’d politely disagree. End is Forever is possibly one of the most personal records out there. The Ataris front man Kris Roe pulls situations from his own life, such as in the song How I Spent My Summer Vacation about growing up in a broken home, or Teenage Riot which talks about The Ataris favorite memories from their “Pennsylvania World Tour” they had in 2000. _ Kris Roe has always talked about how he likes to make his lyrics have a sages. He also claims that one of his big- gest influences on writing is British author Nick Hornby. This is obvious in how many pop culture references occur throughout the CD; be it audio clips from the mov- ies Clerks and Good Will Hunting, a song about the art of mix tape making, or just references to things like Nintendo (Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right A, B, A, B, Start), Billy Idol (Giving Up on Love), and J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye (If You Really Want To Hear About It). If you want to check out an album that’ll bring back high school memories, give you a peak into Kris Roe’s family life, make you chuckle and make you feel young then I recommend going out and picking up a copy of The Ataris, End is Forever. "CHG KE By Chris Dilenno Lion's Eye Staff Writer cad5241@psu.edu Directed by Clark Gregg and adapted from the novel by acclaimed writer Chuck Palahniuk, Choke tells the story of Victor Mancini (Sam Rockwell), a sex addict working as a “historical interpreter”, who has devised a scheme to pay for his | ailing mother’s (Angelica Huston) hospital bills. Victor travels to different restaurants and makes it seem as if he is choking which prompts the patrons to “save” him and in turn, feeling responsible for Victor’s further well-being, send him money as a means of support. Upon visiting his delusional mother in the mental hospital one day, she reveals to Victor (who she thinks is actually someone else due to Alzheimer’s), that she had lied about the origins of Victor’s birth. Intrigued by this revelation, Victor sets out to find the truth about his conception along with the help of his friend, Denny (Brad William Henke) and his mother’s attractive physician, Paige Marshall (Kelly Macdonald). The expectations for this movie were high due to the praise given to the only other Palahniuk novel turned movie to date, Fight Club. The movie delivers in the acting category with an outstanding perfor- mance from Sam Rockwell along with other key character portrayals. The humor Palahuiuk’s second feature film, Choke. (photo courtesy of Fox Searchlight Productions) is dark and vulgar, incorporating scenes that could almost be considered depraved. But the way the movie channels these subjects into a more enlightening theme is what brings it together and makes it truly unique and hysterical. The drawback of the movie is that its attempts at being heartwarming and more easily accessible to a larger audience are much too unambiguous in certain sec- tions of the movie. Palahniuk is known for his deep, visceral themes and to miscon- strue his vision takes some of the power away from the story. All in all, if you can stomach the perversion and overlook the positive message that the movie version seems to yearn for, then Choke will be ef- fortless to swallow and promises to satisfy. son’s million-dollar estate, nine months after his death. Matilda, Ledger’s two- year-old daughter will inherit her father’s 16.6 million-dollar fortune. According to Star magazine, Heath’s will was already in place before his death. It was signed in 2003, before the birth of his daughter. ‘Everyone’s favorite nasty girl, Ms. Janet Jackson if you’re nasty, was rushed to the hospital just before cancel- ing her concert in Montreal. Reality star Kim Kardashian spiced up the dance floor on “Danc- ing with the Stars.” Even with her sexy wardrobe and seductive moves, her performance did not win over the judges. To everyone’s surprise Kardashian and partner Mark Ballas scored 15 out of 30 points. Sadly her last performance on the show ended on the five year anniversary of her father’s death.
