The new website might be frustrating for new and return- ing students Freshmen, as well as con- tinuing students alike, must access the school's website to accomplish a number of things such as checking Webmail, logging onto Angel, or familiarizing them selves with eLion. Long before students started to pile into class- rooms this semester, the new website was here. Delaware County wasn't the only campus to organize such a change. Actually, all 24 Penn State campuses received new website formats. This decision was made by the former Commonwealth Dean, Dianne Disney. Her vision was to create a uniformed look throughout the university. Matt Bodek, former Delco Webmaster, used to main- tain the server to the web- site here on campus. Now, all the websites are con- trolled by University Park. This allowed Bodek more time and energy to integrate technology with students. Not only does the website format look similar to other campuses, it 1s also set up so the campuses are connected: more easily. Debbie Blatten, a mar- keting associate and Web Editor, said that she wel- comes the change. She said that most of the feedback she received has been posi- tive. Ray Fredricks (Freshman/Engineering) used to it and find what they gave comments about the website. "It’s self explanatory, no problems thus far," he said, "You have to put your pass- word in a lot." Not all criticism has been positive. Returning stu- dents find it frustrating and challenging. "I find it very difficult to navigate," said Patrick McWhirthiecr (Senior/Communications). hawn Scanlon (Sophomore/DUS) said, "I liked last year's better, easi- er to find. Now you have to search them [site links] out. [The links] are not at your finger tips." Blatten character- ized the new website as a work in progress. She is working diligently to make the navigation easier. Although, the website might be frustrating for new and returning students, both Bodeck and Blatten hope that the students will get On The Storm The Lion's Eye wishes to encour- age you in the aid of Katrina Survivors. There are a number of drives happening on campus right now. So, please contact your local SGA, this newspaper, or Student Life to find out how you can help bring a life back on track are looking for.
