Once again it is all about the magic. Creating magical. moments for yourselves, but most importantly for the guests. It is up to the cast members to make the guests believe they are living in the fantasy world of Disney. After every guest interaction I always remember to welcome them back home. Unfortunately I do not have the opportunity to work at one of the four Walt Disney Parks here in Orlando, Florida. Instead I was assigned to work at one of the main resorts here on the Disney property. work Boardwalk Resort which captures the character of the Atlantic city boardwalk from the 1930's. Disney's version of the Boardwalk is a very pop- ular resort to many famous people like John Travolta and Julia Roberts. I did not get the opportunity to meet them while they were staying on property. The board- walk creates a ring where other resorts and parks are located. The center of the circle is a lake where you can find a few fish helping King Triton search for Ariel. Epcot and MGM are within walking distance of the resort if you follow the boards. However the guests staying at ‘the Boardwalk are used to being waited on hand and so many take advantage of the transportation provided to them instead of actually walking the short distance. My job here at the boardwalk is a merchandise host- ess. It is up to me and my fellow coworkers to enter- tain and serve the guests. I feel like Cinderella constant- ly being ordered what to do and what to say to each. and every guests while maintaining a smile fourteen hours straight. : I work in a few different locations on the boardwalk. For all those sport fans you should come and visit me here in Disney because I work at ESPN. I don't quite under-- stand why they placed me in ESPN b ecause I know nothing about sports. When a guest asks me a question I just nod my head and smile. If they want to know if we. have something I automatically say no, I'm not supposed to admit to the guest that I have no idea what they are talk- ing about . I also work at the shops along the boardwalk known as Screen Door,Thimbles and Threads, and Character Carnival. Screen Door reminds me of my old job at Genuardis which was a lot more exciting. You see Screen Door is a small general store where you can buy gallons of milk or a carton of eggs. Well everyone staying at this resort is on vacation and they don’t really supply stoves in the rooms so I wonder how they are going to cook those eggs. As for the milk I don’t think it fits in the tiny fridge they have in each room. So the grocery store is a little boring, but it is way more exciting than the other shops. Character Carnival and Thimbles and Threads is where you can get all those great souvenirs you always wanted as a kid. The problem is the same merchandise is sold in the parks so everyone buys it there. Yes it would be easier to get it at your resort where you wouldn’t have to carry around the packages but you see Disney solved that problem. They solve all the problems when it comes to guests. Disney has the pack ages you buy at the park shipped to your hotel at the. All I do is fold and refold the same shirt over and over again. : My favorite place to work is Seashore Sweets. Seashore Sweets is an ice-cream shop that resembles what a candy and ice-cream shop would look like in the 1930s. Seashore Sweets got its name from the Sweet girls. The Sweet girls used to always try out for the Miss America pageant every year. They never won, but never gave up trying. When they became older and covered in wrinkles they weren’t allowed to be contestants any more. Well these sweet girls were angry so they opened up an ice cream shop right next to where the contest was being held to fatten these girls up a little. If they couldn’t win why should anyone. Well our store is to honor them. The walls of our shop have pictures of all the winners from the contest. We also have the actual crown and cape that was worn by the winner the first few years the contest was around. It’s pretty cool. All the guests always comment on some- thing in that shop. Our shop is very small but it is always crammed with many guests searching for a treat. For some reason they don’t sell desserts at the famous restaurants locat- ed here at the Boardwalk. People buy a $100 plate of food and the restaurant doesn’t even offer a cup of coffee afterwards. So everyone is forced to go to Seashore for a little sweet. : Well that is pretty much all I do here at the Boardwalk Resort. It isn’t that bad of a job because I like the other CPs I work with. Of course I could do without the managers who would work you to death if they could but that is another story in itself.
