"At one time speech and theater were linked together, but times have changed and those of us in Speech/Communication found ourselves reexamining our scholarly and teaching goals," said Dr. Wayne McMullen, speech communication coordinator. The online service is designed to assist all students interested in having resumes online for employers to see, or to view internship opportunities that are available, and also to look for companies and businesses recruiting on campus. "It will help students gear up for job positions," Celia Lang, career counselor. This online service will also allow students to keep track of employers who have viewed their resume. "This is a new program and before we can work with students they have to put their resume online," said Lang. said wunicating a major new goal Speech is only one part of the Communication world; therefore the name is being changed to accommodate all of the aspects of the degree. The new name will be "Communication Arts and Sciences," and even the national organization ~ known as the "Speech Communication Association" changed its name to the "National Communication Association." "The department at University Park also believed it was time to revise the curriculum to reflect these changes," McMullen said. The program will enable students to understand the "Career services will be happy to help." The two workshops were held on Tuesday and yester- day, and were orientations to the online resume and internship listings.
