Spring 1998 final examinations are taking place from May 4-8. Time to regurgitate everything learned in the last four months. As stressful as it may be, there are some ways to limit the amount of anxiety students feel. The first thing a student who is having trouble in a particular class should do is talk to the professor. He or she may be able to give some advice on how exactly to study for the final. Remember, other students will be trying to see the professor too, so the sooner you make the appointment the better. If the professor turns out to be of little assistance, go to the Learning Center. The professional and peer tutors there are ready to help you study. Also, many of the aids in the Learning Center work directly with the professors, who often supply copies of previous tests. The last thing to remember when taking exams is that there are rules and regulations developed by faculty, students and students, for example the number of final exams one can take in a certain time period. Any student scheduled to take two or more exams in a fifteen hour period has the right to reschedule a final. This, however, must be done at least one week in advance. The Robert E. Club Activities Continue Tracey Dinh As the semester comes to an end, many students are concentrating on catching up on all the schoolwork that procrastination has left them with. Even the students who have never failed to hand in something late are feeling the weight of finals upon them. Either way the campus is teaming with busy students. As a result, many clubs have slowed down to let their members focus on schoolwork. Fortunately, however, a few club events are keeping the student body happy and involved. The Black Student League had its annual Marcel Carter Games on ‘Saturday April 25. Several students from surrounding high schools and colleges came to Delco campus to participate in a series of competitive, but friendly basketball games. The cost was $5 for every person and $4 for members of the Black Student League. The games raise money for cancer research in memory of a BSL student who died of bone cancer in 1992. The Student Athletic Association will have its annual banquet on May 3 at the Media Inn. This event will honor the accomplishments of individuals and teams that have shown exceptional efforts throughout the season. The SGA is hosting the Spring Fling On May 1. The annual semiformal is taking place at the Ramada in Essington this year. Most of the clubs are in the process of electing new officers for the coming year and will greatly appreciate any suggestions or interests any students may have. It’s never too late to get involved.
