The Men (5 - 11, 11 - 16) refused to give up on their dreams and in the concluding games if their season became the Rudy’s of Delco’s Gym. Their hard work and drive propelled them to a fantastic last leg kick towards the finish line. The Women (1 - 9, 10 - 12) did reach some of their goals that they established the first week of practice. “We said we wanted to make the playoffs. We said we wanted to win at least 10 games. Finally, our biggest goal was to play in front of all our friends up at University Park,” comments power forward Kate McCusker. “We only got so far with our goals.” The Women’s team went through a lot of difficult times throughout the season as veteran player Eileen Millilen points out, “we went through some tough times when first McCusker couldn’t play and then Doolittle. Then when I sprained my ankle, I didn’t think as a team we’d ever recover.” Recover they did. The team played with the spirit of the under dog Hickory Hoosiers and grasped a playoff birth. “I am looking forward to what the cards hold for next season,” responds coach Brian Donghue, “we will return with only two players, so hopefully more women will come out. Otherwise, it may be a long season. ‘We had a good foundation this season, I just hope we can keep building up.” The two returnees are All - Star Joan Zimmerman and Kate “Big Blue” McCusker. The Men on the other hand will return with much the same line-up as was present this season. “I know we will be much better next season,” assures point guard Jon Daniels, “ we will lose four strong players but we will also retain a strong bench, we can only improve.” The men finished their season strong but due to early season losses, the strong finishing efforts were all for naught. “Hopefully things will be better next year,” commented SAA President Vince Screnchi, “things looked to be getting better but a long season and a | very disappointing loss to York in the last game, leaves me hoping for a better season next year.” With the long race over, all new Delcoites are left looking forward to next seasons while all the veterans are looking back at their glory days at PSU Delco and the expectations that weren't made to be met. Abington, Berks-Lehigh Valley, and the Delaware County Campus coordinated the two-day event. The conference is designed to inspire young students to lead their peers in various activities. Each campus was instructed to invite twenty students to participate in the conference. Keynote speaker Gary Bonas, A motivatienal, team building, leadership speaker, was the highlight of the event. Students participated in activites ranging from goal setting and conflict resolution to stress and time management. The "Leaders-in- Training" also heard from current out- going leaders who reflected on the past years trials and tribulations. Three wonderfully prepared meals and a Dance Party on Friday night kept the students entertained in their free time.
