=) 5) — LION’S EYE — December 3, 1997 By Erin Lulevitch They're back with a vengeance this season. The Women’s basketball team is roaring into action with one goal in mind, ultimate victory. The Women’s team possesses a fury that seemed to be lacking last year. Their recent win against Luzerne on November 15, helped to send the ~ message that this year it’s going to be a whole new ball game. Though the women lost their next game against tough PSU Mont Alto, the score was impressively close at 75 to 70. That's a big improvement from the last time these two teams met and "PSU Delco suffered the loss by a score of 41 to 5. Spirits are high and so are the expectations for the Women's team, as veteran player Mary Doolittle puts it, “We have a kick-ass team this year!” The Men's team is off to a great start again this year after claiming a victory against Williamson with a score of 68 to 46. Vince Screnci notes that the Men's team is “a lot bigger and fully stacked.” Delco security staff member Brian Finney agrees. “The Men's team is looking really good this year.” This season looks to be like a promising one. Tonight, the Women’s team will take on Manor at 6pm on Delco’s court. Their next home game will take place on Saturday, December 6 at 1pm against Keystone College. The Men’s team will be on the road for their next two games against PSU Schuylkill and PSU Berks. Students will have to wait until next semester to sec the Men live in action at home. Penn State men go for a shot in their Nov. 19 game against Williamson. Club Sport PSU Delco Hockey Team Faces Off for New Season By Rob Coyle What do you call a bunch of college guys who take pleasure in beating up on forty year olds with wooden sticks and blades? You call them your own. PSU Delco’s hockey team is back in business with only one goal in mind, “to kick some geezer - hockey ass!” (name withheld by request) The Delco hockey team opened up its season on November 10, playing in a over-thirty men’s league at Aston Rinks. The team won easily, taking the Old Havorford Hawks by a score of 7 - 3. Team member Mike Kida was pleased with the team’s performance. “I thought we would be hogging the puck,” Kida admitted. “However, I was proven wrong whén we dominated the game with our passing.” Delco will not only participate in the men’s league, but also play different regional college teams. Some of their upcoming contests included games against Temple, Loyola, and NYU. Although playing against older teams has its disadvantages, assistant player/coach Chuck Gorman sees an upside. “The more games we play, the more we'll progress and unify as a team.” It became apparent that some players have loftier goals for their team. When asked this, a mysterious player known only as Renberg commented “Next year we’d be smashing Boston U.” The league may never be the same.
