It’s also an opportunity to expand on arts and culture,” said Ms. Norma Notzold, Learning Assistance Coordinator. Students looking for an alternative to spending a Friday or Saturday night at a party should check out the campus cultural opportunities offered through Delco. You can see what cultural opportunities exist by stopping in the Vairo Library and taking a look at the bulletin board entitled “Spend An Evening With The Arts”. This bulletin board, located on the wall to your right as you walk into the lower level of the library, features advertisements on the theater, art, and musical events going on in and around the Philadelphia area. These events Philadelphia on Wednesday, December 18. Ms. Notzold is enthusiastic about this trip because “the. Walnut Street Theater typically does musicals well.” This particular trip is planned as a group trip for students at Delco. Be sure to see Ms. Notzold in Rm. 109 of the Vairo Library if you're interested in going to this - show. Ms. Notzold encourages students to see her if they are interested in getting a group together to attend one of the cultural opportunities around the area. “We'll be happy to help get the trip together by obtaining information and posting a sign up sheet on the bulletin board on the lower level of the library.” All the cultural events are not confined to the Philadelphia area. The Media Theater has some very good plays that can be seen for a reasonable price close by and “Friday nights in Media are great,” according to Ms. Notzold. She also mentioned that the Delaware Opera House will be featuring Romeo and Juliet soon, which “a great experience for those new to opera.” The new Arden theater in old city Philadelphia on 2nd and Market Streets was praised by Ms. Notzold for its wonderful seating arrangements and it’s “small theater intimacy. This theater is brand new and it makes for a very nice atmosphere to see a play in.” Ms. Notzold encourages students to “get out and see what's out there!” She urges students to “take advantage” of all the culture that is packed into and located not too far from the area that we live in. Sand, Surf Or Snow? Spring Break For $109 By JoAnne Johnson Imagine spending spring break lying on a warm beach, rather than huddled in a cold room in the dead of March. The Communication Club is promoting a spring break trip through Inter-Campus programs to Panama City Beach. Prices start at $109 for four person occupancy and transportation. The choices of hotels include quality chains, such as Best Western, Days Inn, Holiday Inn, and others as well. Communication Club president, Justin Mayfair, said, “If it works, this is a great opportunity to kick back and relax in a hammock.” All proceeds from the trip benefit the Communication Club. Paul Basilio, club treasurer, says, “A fund-raiser like this can really jump start the club; especially considering our limited funds.” However, the people who benefit from this trip most are the vacationers. These are the lowest prices that students can get, and include local discounts, side excursions and a party guide that lists a schedule of parties, local promotions, concerts and other activities. Also included are “party cards” that allow entrance to parties that include free T-shirts, food and 12- 24 hours of free beer. The dates of these trips are not only during Penn State’s spring break, they run from February to the middle of April. If you want more information on prices and dates, or if you want to book a trip, E-mail Justin Mayfair at JXM344, JoAnne Johnson at JM]161, or Paul Basilio at PNB101. Tommy, Michael, Lorenzo, and Johnny decide to play a prank, but when their plan backfires all of the boys find themselves being sentenced to do time in a juvenile detention center, Wilkinson Home for Boys. Inside these walls, each of the boys discover what they are really made of. Being subjected to virtually all and any means of unjust punishment, the boys serve their time and then return to Hell’s Kitchen no longer as boys, but as men who dealt with the pain but can’t forget their past. Shawn Nokes, played by Kevin Bacon, is one of the guards who abuses and rapes the boys. Bacon plays an excellent role as the villain in the movie, which is a step in the opposite direction of his usual performances.
