A large sculpture has been generously donated to our campus by the Core States Bank of Pennsylvania. It sits to the side of the main ‘building, almost guarding the entrance to the grounds. Students and faculty alike have driven past it each day wondering what it was. The following should help answer some questions regarding this new landmark. It is a very simple equation, really. Penn State Delco is home to this year’s Intermediate Unit Expo on October 29. Faculty and advisors from all around the Delaware County strongly encourage high school students to check out this innovative new program structured to boost interest in the science fields. The most exciting way to learning science is hands-on experimentation. The Intermediate Unit Expo will be packed with all kinds of up-close work shops and interactive computer entertainment. The list of top businesses and universities helping to present this program and add innovations of their own is superior. PECO Energy, Boeing, Arco, Bell Atlantic, Sun Co., was placed into storage. Then the year was 1994, aad Core States was looking to remove the sculpture from storage. “The initial thoughts of Core States was to send it to State College where another of Christopher Ray’s sculptures is,” says Dr. Jane Cooper. However, according to Dr. Cooper, “We convinced them to donate it to our campus instead.” The only cost surrounding the sculpture was that of transportation from storage to Delco and the laying of a foundation for it. Through the work of Dr. Cooper and the “Friends of the Tim Mark Endowment” that cost was take care of.
