Needs A Treasurer By John Bishop Would you like to be involved in student affairs? Do you want to make a contribution to the students of Penn State? Well you just might get the opportunity The Student Government Association is currently accepting applications for the office of treasurer. To be eligible for this position, students must have full time status and have twelve credits or more. Students interested in being treasurer must also be willing to schedule five hours a week for treasury work if necessary. The basic duties of 5.G.A. treasurer involve working with the various clubs and organizations of Penn State and allocating the funds from their budgets, keeping an accurate record of S.G.A accounts, and performing the general duties of an S.G.A. officer. “The Treasurer of the S.G.A. . should be someone who is responsible and dedicated to making a difference. It's important that the Treasurer be able to perform the accounting that has to be done, but it’s also important that they work with the students and listen to their ideas. The next Treasurer should be someone who brings new ideas to the 5.G.A and whois not afraid to speak out and make their views known,” explained Amy McCarthy, President of the Student Government Association. “ When it comes to voting on a specific issue the votes of each of the student officers are equal in importance. The Treasurer's vote is just as important as the President's. The Treasurer of the S.G.A. is an important position. The S.G.A exists for the students and people who want to make Penn State a better place for students should apply for Treasurer, “ she added.
