Page 6 — LION’SEYE — November 13, 1992 Scholarship Money Available To Students On Campus By Rosa Laborde Penn State Delco gives away scholarships every spring to eligible students. But who is eligible for these scholarships? If you are a full time student who has completed at least two semesters at the campus, are involved in school activities, show citizenship, and have a grade point average of 3.0, then you may be able to receive a scholarship. Recipients of scholarships are selected by the Scholarship Committee of Delaware County Campus with the approval of the Office of Student Aid. There are also scholarships for those who have financial needs. See Mrs. Sylvia Shaffer in room 106 Main to obtain the financial aid forms you need. Each scholarship awarded is a minimum of $500 which is transfered directly into the winner's account. Take time to look into the following scholarships: The Judith Davis Memorial Scholarship: founded in memory of a former campus psychology professor. Preference is given to a student enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts. The Robert E. Finucane Memorial Scholarship: established through contributions from the Delaware County Press Club and in memory of the late Robert E. Finucane, a former faculty member and local newspaper columnist. Preference is given to students who plan to major in journalism, communications, or the liberal arts. The Lawrence E. Hallstrom Memorial Scholarship: funded through contributions of Mr. Hallstrom, a 1929 alumnus who died in 1990. Preference is given to a student enrolled in the College of Engineering. The H. Leonard Krouse Award of the Penn State Club of Delaware County: funded by contributions of Penn State alumni and friends through the efforts of the Penn State Club of Delaware County and its former president, H. Leonard Krouse. Preference is given to students who have completed three semesters at the Delaware County Campus and plan to continue studies here or at another Penn State Campus. The PNC Financial Corp Endowed Delaware County Campus Scholarship: funded though the PNC Corporation and Provident Bank, one of its member banks. The Jane H. Sheetz Memorial Scholarship: founded in memory of the first employee of the Delaware County Campus, who died in 1986, and funded by alumni and friends of the campus and members and friends of the Sheetz family. The John D. and Greta C. Vairo Scholarship: named for the founding director and executive officer of the campus, who served from 1967 to 1986, and his wife; funded through contributions of alumni, family and friends. The Gilbert A. Wetzel Telecommunications Scholarship: presented to an outstanding student of any term standing ( or part-time student) enrolled in the Telecommunications Technology Program or in a related program study. The award is named for the past president of Bell of Pennsylvania. The Bayard D. and Ethel M Kunkle Scholarship Fund: fund shall be awarded to superior full-time undergraduate students who have financial need. Penn State Delaware County Campus winners of the W.W. Smith Charitable Trust Scholars Award for 1992-93 school year were Carol Ann Oglesby, Diana Miceri, David Feiser, Youngoak Marousky, and Lori J. Gavin. Eligible students will be notified by mail on how to obtain one of these scholarships. Award-winning Romanian poet, Liliana Ursu, is visiting America and serving as Fulbright Lecturer in the Dept. of Slavic and East European Languages, University Park Campus.
