When I asked Mrs. D what she enjoyed most about working at Penn State, she Celebrating the Old and the New by Gary Jones Editor-in-Chief On February 7, 1989, Penn State, Delaware County Campus celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) Associate Degree program. Graduates from as far back as 1971 participated in a “Back To College Night” buffet supper which served as the first official Engineering Alumni Reunion held by any Penn State campus. Held in the Commons Building, the program was co-sponsored by the Career Development & Placement Center and the newly formed Electrical Engineering Technology student club. The EET program focuses on preparing graduates for technician positions with electrical utilities, electrical, electronic, and computer equipment manufacturers, and electrical maintenance and instrumentation departments in a variety of industries. The Delaware County Campusengineering program has provenits ~ success repeatedly by placing graduates in many of the Delaware Valley’s leading businesses and electrical companies. Delco graduates represent companies such as Philadelphia Electric (Anthony Dippolito, 1987), Bell Atlantic (Richard Borreggine, 1974), General Electric Astro Space Division (George R. Marencin, 1979), Unisys (Judy Cadmus, 1981), Digital Equipment (Lawrence J. Ough, 1983) and B.P. Director of answered with just three words, “Students, students, students!” My next question caught her off guard. I asked her why she left Penn State. She replied, "I feel that I can and must expand my horizons. I’ve seen so many high school students with low self-esteem who couldn’t even imagine that they could make it to Penn State or any college. I want to be able to help those students.” She is a remarkable woman, dedicating her life to the service of others. In the fall of 1989, Mrs. Dillingham will be attending Temple University to achieve her goal of earning her doctorate in Counseling Psychology. In the future, Mrs. D wants to counsel high school students and aid educational institutions in understanding, encouraging and supporting young people. She plans to be very active offering workshops and a variety of counseling services. Even though she has a busy schedule planned, the students at Delco will always be a part of her life. She promised that she would never forget us. The students of Delco will make sure of that!
