They were victorious against the likes of Haverford J.V.,, Community College of Phila., North Eastern Christian College, Swarthmore J.V., Delaware County Community, Williamson, and even Penn ae dig iy Delco soccer team: need we say more. Along with the serious play- ing of the Nittany Lions foot- ball team came the serious but hilarious sports stories from our former sports editor, Tom Flynn. The two that I find fun- ny are ‘What's with Joe's Pants?’ and “What I Won't Tell My Grandchildren.” If you read the grandchildren story then you must know how crazy our former editor is. And as for the article on Joe's pants, well it speaks for itself. My only thoughts upon reading this arti- cle is whether or not Joe found some more ‘Lucky’ pants. Perhaps he caught another sale? Kicking Up A Storm Robert Hollenbeck and Cdrolyn Ferris traveled to Tem- ple University on October 2, 1982 to represent the Penn State Karate Club in the Kin Yoan Scholarship Tournament. Carolyn placed second in the Women free style, while Robert style competition. A Ping Pong First The first annual Spirit Weel: Ping Pong Tournament was held in October and was a big hit. In the finals were Mike Boas and Chi Hoang. Although he started out strong, that little extra something was not with Mike Boas, while Chi Hoang looked impressive at the table and walked home with the first place trophy. : Athletic Briefs "A Hole in Three for Delco _ The newly formed golf team from Delco left on October 7, 1982 to compete in a cross cam- pus tournament. Delco finished third with Beaver and Dubois just ahead of them. Field Hockey: Here to Stay Just like other events, the formation of the women’s field hockey team at our campus was a quiet one.
