The new building will initially contain 50,000 volumes, but will be constructed to expand as the campus grows. The state-funded project will take approximately two years to complete. * Sara Whildin, former reference librarian at the Pattee Undergraduate Library in University Park, has joined the Delaware County Campus staff. The new librarian hopes to *‘fur- ther develop the library's role in the instructional process’ at the campus. Editorial Student Expression — Grafitti “The words of the prophets are written on the subway wall and tenement halls And whispered in the Sound of Silence.” The messages have returned. The problem of graffiti is grow- ing again. Inspirational sayings like ‘1 hate Math,” “Class of ‘81, and “A friend with weed is a friend indeed’ are popping up on desks throughout the campus. While the sayings do attrac’, attention, they also attract dollars for clean-up. Every summer the maintenance crew scrubs up all the desks for Fall Term. And by —Simon and Garfunkel every spring the desks are com- pletely soiled with graphite and ink marks again. Chemical for- mulas, calculus rules, and sociology theories are all represented along with rock and roll lyrics and disco slurs. Difficulties arise when large sums of money are spent for cleaning materials and, in the worst cases, for new furniture. The concept that is the hardest to understand is why some students have sudden HANNUM'S urges to destroy and deface school property. Boredom, restlessness, and disinterest may be some of the reasons for the abuse, but nonetheless, sheer inconsideration and lack of empathy are at the head of the list. Let's face it, graffiti is ugly and unnecessary. The destruc- tion has to stop or valuable items will be removed and everyone will lose. The next time vou feel like writing on something, try vour arm. 1 : - Lynn Johnson and Harry MacCartney Harley Davidson more than a machine AND Kawasaki 1" FALL SAVINGS FIASCO ** 1976 FLH Dressed 1975 FLH Dressed 1976 FLH Undressed 4250.00 1977 FLH Undressed 4450 1977 XLCR 1000 cc 1979 Leftovers 1979 FLH Classic is 1979 FXS Low Rider : Honda Don’t let the good times pass you by (This Week's Special) 1250.00 3995.00 1973 750 00 3495.00 1974 750 Honda Super Clean 1995.00 3895.00 1973 750 Boniville Triumph 1250.00 4150.00 1977 750 Kawasaki 1850.00, 2995.00 1978 650 Kawasaki Custom 1850.00 | 1979 650 Kawasaki SR Sport 2550.00 1979 Leftovers 5495.00 1979 650 STD 254300 | 2400.00 4895.00 1979 LTD 1000 3 SAVE ENERGY - RIDEA MOTORCYCLE Don’t miss our motorcycle show at the Granite Run Mall October 29th thru November 3rd ' GET IN THE HANNUM'’S HABIT ** 3495.00
