THESPIAN b9 c CRITICISM Tti\O-\--ivm\3\z 7q . e11, here I am again, back by popular demand (my popular demand). Once again I have eer. asked to write about my beloved campus. row, because people consider me a critic, I will discuss Behrend's cultural program. At this point and in all seriousness, I would like to thank the Cultural Committee for their valiant attempt to " please all of the people all of the time." The Cultural Committee started their season off with Harold Betters. I did not go because, being a lowly freshman, I did-not know that I was allowed to attend a grown-up affair. Des pite me, it was very good I'm told, and it got the Committee off to a good start. .Pf ter Mr. Betters came the Art Show. I didn't go to it , but the day before I saw it.(l walked past the "do not enter" sign while nonchalantly whistling "Bottle of Wine::) I saw some paintings I liked and some I did not like. But T. am not an art critic ; not at those prices. After this came the "I.c):.d's Internat4pnal Marionette Show". This was my first encol:nter with the Cultural Committee. I found it very enjoyable. I was very much surprised by the crowd that was there. The next one I had to come to because I had to run lights. This was "Aria da Capo" and the film version of "Romeo and Juliet: Needless to say, "Aria da Capo"was much the better of the two; no brag just fact. If I may digress for a minute (and who's to stop me), I suggest that be certain to watch the Behrend Players, they are going to do something. Then came the biggest bomb since Errol Flynn flew over Weisbohn. Less said about Lewis and what's his name, the better. This brings us to the last concert of the season. It was much better and ended the concert on a hi.p . ,11 note (C flat). It started with the Pier. Group. This group consisted of Al Smith, Dave Whithey, and Pat Janowski. (She's not really ours, if she was I won't let her sing). No, all joking aside, it was a very good job, and I en,'oy it very much ('-,'ho writes their material?- Bob Hope? ) Finally , our hero andpart-time superman arrived amidst a flock of birds. In five mini:tes he had every member of the audience :joining in song. It was a very pleasant experience. So, as the sun sets over Behrend Campus, we bid a very fond farewell to the pearl of Erie, Ann B. Davis and slowly drip behind tine 'S.G.A. counter'. Holy Sanctuary! "Is Rog Benedict Really Lyndon Johnson?" The world was shocked by Present JGhn son's decision not to run in 196 r :end much speculation occured as to the re , - )n for his retirement. Many conflicting theories were proposed but now the truth can be revealed. This reporter has learned from a - person very close to the President (his cook--who plans to write a book on world politics) that this move is part of a gigantic power play on the part of Johnson, the point being the take over of Behrend Campus. Johnson's first move was quitting his present mundane job, in the hope that his availability would cause him to be drafted as a candidate for president of our student body, a position he has had in mind ever since the beginning of his political career. When re sponse from Behrend was not immediate, he infiltrated and gained the support of a splin ter party, the DDT students. Working under the alias of Rog Benedict, a write-in candidate he hoped to gain in cross-overs from four year and EET students. At this point you may wonder why a man like Johnson, burdened for five years with the dutie and responsibilities of his previous position, would want to inflict upon himself the monu mental chore of managing SGA. The answer is that Lyndon Johnson is a politican to the core of his being. After his position of world prominence, the only thing that can satisfy Lyndon now is the challenge of dealing with the intricacies of problems presented to SGA. To meet the required status of "student", and better fit him for political life, Lyndon is now taßing a Dale Carnegie course to prepare him for four years of majoring in dramatics and theater arts.
