Men's soccer season ends in upset BY LOGAN ZUGAY INTRAMURAL ASSISTANT LXZSOI6@PSU.EDU Friday, Nov. 7 was a sunny, warm, perfect day for soccer when the Harrisburg men's soccer team hosted an NEAC playoff quarterfinal match-up with SUNY Cobelskill. The weather couldn't have been any more cooperative for the Lions. Too bad the opposition couldn't be. Intramural flag football championship The No. 4 PSH squad was mildly upset 3-0 by the No. 5 Fighting Tigers, ending the men's season. "It's really hard to swallow, you know?" said sophomore Captain Eli Saenz. "We were higher in the rankings and we prepared well for this game. We felt confident. You gotta hand it to them; they came out and played flawlessly." Flawless may not give enough credit to the visitors. The game seemed as if it could go either way until Cobelskill broke the tie a little more than midway through the first half. With a rip from the left side of the box, the strike cleared outstretched Goalkeeper Toan Ngo and the ball landed in the back of the net. Sophomore Nick Slatt saw a change in momentum. "They just seemed to play more confidently than they were before," Slat stated. "They kept playing to win instead of playing not to lose. Give them credit for From that point on, ball control was an issue for the Lions. A few quick strike attacks ending fruitlessly and a stifling Tiger defense kept the ball cradled in the PSH zone. Cobelskill went on and notch a second goal midway through the second and add another goal late to make it 3-0. With time slipping away, lead was just too much to overcome for the young Lions.
