Yes, they still rock. Yes, they're still aggressive. Yes, their music is still full of anthems and gang shouts. However, the Murphys have brought some new friends and instruments with them. The one time four-piece band has become seven: two new guitar play ers, a mandolin, a tin whistle and, of course, the bagpipes. The Murphys have blended traditional Irish folk with their alley sound. This quote is quite explicitly expressed and accentuated by and through this band and album. This band is a group of mas queraders who impersonate anger and dis content to expose the truth about America and all of its lies, indecencies and crimes against humanity and nature in the name of business and/or God. The songs on the album highlight America and other super power countries (China, Canada . . .) as cultural imperialists, violators of social and humanitarian issues, exploiters of young and old laborers, destroyers of the environment and resources and con trollers of information and communica tion for social control and dominance of ideological thought and discourse. It's a simple title that gives rise to the simple structure of the film. Two Parks and Recreation employees, Murph (Ned Beatty) and Paul (Live Schreiber), become friends and talk. They talk from the spring through the summer, fall, and deep into the winter. They talk about life, ideals, experiences, vacations and old jokes. It's not a film with plot or a real story. The story is the characters, and the characters are friends. The performances by Beatty and Schreiber are A-list, rock solid. The chem istry that exists between the two actors is nothing less than what you would see on the live stage. Their characters come to life in the first five minutes and never miss a beat. After the film, I couldn't help but be sad, because I realized that I had just seen two amazing performances by two incredibly gifted actors who will for ever be known as "that guy from Scream," and "that guy who was raped in the ass in Deliverance."
