[The center should be] a place for all stu dents to go for reflection." Dr. William Mahar, chair of the Humanities Depart ment, said: "He always had a vision. He believed that the arts were an integral part of education. He was proud of his heritage, his people and his culture." James Burton, a 1947 graduate of PSH and a former Black Student Union member, recalled LaGrone's dedi cation to education and the arts. He called on all stu dents to "come together and talk about history as well as the future. It's time we move into the new millen nium and embrace everyone." After the unveiling of the bust, awards of apprecia tion were given out by Alma Wing, coordinator of the Minority Academic Excellence Program. PSH profes sors Dr. Clem Gilpin and Dr. Winston Richards re ceived awards for their recognition and appreciation of vision.
