Alumni fellow South speaks on campus PSH grad addresses humanities/business and public administration students Gail T. South, whohas been named Penn State Harrisburg's Alumni Fellow, spoke to students majoring in humanities/ business and public administration, the returning women students' group and spent time with faculty and attended formal functions during her Oct. 24-26 visit to campus. The designation as an Alumni Fellow is one of the highest honors bestowed by Penn State. South, strategy adviser in the national Service Division of IBM, earned her master's degree in American studies from PSH in 1976 and said it was a key event in determining her future. She served as administrative assistant to the chairman of the business administration program, as a lecturer in technical and business writing, and as a personnel administrator at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She also maintained strong ties to the community, serving on the board of advisers of Youth and Urban Services for the Harrisburg YMCA, and the Camp Curtain branch of the YMCA. South was also a member of the board of advisers of PROBE Counseling and Referral Service at Capital College, and a member of the board of advisers of the Early Childhood Development Center at Harrisburg Area Community College. According to South, she left the Harrisburg area to take a position with IBM "with a mixture and anticipation and regret."
