Coursey The Behrend Cubs Basketball Team snapped a long losing streak with back to back - Victories over St. Vincent and Laßoche Col leges, respectively. They roared out of the locker room and exploded for ten unanswered points. The Cubs, un daunted, came back with their own rally and soon led by 12 points. St. Vincent, showing remarkable poise, refused to fold, playing the Cubs close the rest of the night. With under a minute of regula tion time left in the game, the Bearcats pulled to within one basket of tying the game, at 63-61. Behrend hung tough, although, and with the game on the line, the trio of Garrett, Blanks and Miklos all scored to clinch the victory. Monday night, January 30, the Penn State-Behrend Mens' Basketball team was again vic torious, this time over the Runn ing Red Devils from Laßoche College. The big gun's for the Cubs were Chris Garrett, Bill Miklos and Randy Gorniak, ac counting for 36 of Behrend's 52 points. With approximately ten minutes left in the first half, the Cubbies battled to a 14-10 lead, with well balanced scoring. The lead was cut to two points at the half, 22-20. The second half being as,exciting as the first half, with Advertising- Publicity Public' Information the ballgame not being decided until Bill Miklos canned a clutch foul shot with two seconds left in the game. Thus-making the final score 52-51, in favor of 13ehrend. A welcome addition to the Cubs' starting five this year is Randy Gorniak. Randy, -a transfer from Lock Haven State, wasn't eligible for varsity play un- FEBRUARY 2, 1984 til the end of the fall semester. Randy - was proven to be a valuable member of the wens' basketball team. Also at 6'B" he is a menacing force on the court. With 'Randy's rebounding ability and presence in the middle and continued team play, a successful season shouldn't be out of the question.
