Option Three: Food Service Coupons are printed on safety paper in varying denominations and bound in a convenient booklet. You may purchase Food Service Coupons in books of $25.00 from the Housing and Food Service Office located in Dobbins Hall. You use these coupons as cash in the Gorge Snack Bar Cafeteria or to purchase Guest Meal Tickets for meals at Dobbins Cafeteria. There are several advantages of the new Food Service Coupons: 1. This is considered a meal plan, so it can be added to your student account and be paid for all at one time. 2. Some of these events are held University wide, while others are unique to Penn State-Behrend. All students are en couraged to participate in the festivities. Oktoberfest-Homecoming The Office of University Rela tions, the Athletic Department and the Students Activities Office have developed an Oktoberfest- Homecoming Weekend that in cludes social activities, athletic events and a lot of autumn fun for students, . rents and alumni. FINAL EXAM STATEMENT A schedule for final examinations is published near the tenth week of Fall semester and wilJ be available in the Records Office. Final exam week will be from December 16th through December 22nd. Final ex ams will be preceeded by two Study Days, December 19th and 15th. Students should not make ad vance plans to leave campus at the end of the semester until after the final exam schedule is published. The final exam period is a required portion of the scheduled semester. RESIDENTS HALL LIFE Home away from nome tor a resi dent student at Penn State-Behrend is one of three residence halls on campus: Perry, Niagara or Lawrence. The Student Affairs staff and the Housing and Food Ser vice staff work closely together to ensure a quality living environment for each and every resident. As in every living situation such as this, each resident must be aware of his her rights and responsibilities. You might find so meone who is going your way. Student Information System The television sets you have pro bably noticed around campus are not all broadcasting daily network programs. Many of them are part of the Student Information System, better known as SIS, which is coor dinated by Mr. Paul Bailey of the Instructional Communications Department. SIS provides a wide variety of information abcut meetings, activities, financial aid deadlines, and much more. Take a few minutes to watch, and see for yourself. Bulletin Boards You can find a good deal of valuable information on the bulletin boards situated around campus. The Reheard Relays The Resident Life Staff is spon soring this autumn weekend of fun and games for the Penn State- Behrend community. The faculty, staff and students are all invited to compete for hundreds of prizes in a series of serious and zany team relay races. AR-University Day Every Fall, the University spon sors an excursion to University Park to enable Penn State-Behrend students to take part in All Universi ty Day. All of the Penn State cam puses participate in the event which provides an opportunity for students to become acquainted with the University Park Campus, as well as to attend a football game and a concert. Hanging of the Greens The Hanging of the Greens is an annual Christmas ceremony at Penn State-Behrend. A wreath is placed on the Behrend grave and a Christmas message is presented to the University community in the chapel at Wintergreen Cemetary. Carols are sung, prayers are said and these are followed by horse drawn sleigh rides around the cam pus. Christmas Bazaar Clubs and organizations plan a three day bazaar in mid-December, generating a feeling of holiday spirit while providing students, faculty and staff an opportunity to purchase Christmas treats. The Bazaar is held on the first floor of the Reed Union Building. Winter Festival Winter Festival is sponsored by the Student Union Board. Students have a chance to participate in ski ing and tobogganing races, a snow sculpture contest and other ac The bulletin boards, first floor RUB, offer information about campus news, notices, and items for sale. You can find out about part-time, full-time, and summer jobs on the Placement bulletin board, second floor RUB. The bulletin boards throughout the other campus buildings provide information about your academic and other interests. Don't pass them by without taking a look. Mailboxes Besides long-awaited letters from family and friends, the resident students' mailboxes located on first floor RUB near the Mailroom sometimes contain notices and flyers with important and valuable information. Don't toss them in the basket without reading them - you don't know what you might be miss ing! Student Activities Calendar The Student Union publishes an activities calendar each month (ex luding summer). This calendar outlines activities, athletic events, and other important dates. It con tains information you shouldn't overlook! Pick one up at the RUB Main Desk. Beinend College Radio Station The Penn State-Behrend Radio Club is responsible for the WBCR pro gramming. The nine separate events that com prise the RAT Games occur both in doors and outdoors. Spkft Week A relatively new tradition at Penn State-Behrend is Spirit Week, en compassing a full week of activities that encourage an exciting feeling of spirit on campus. Clubs and organizations plan pep rallies, dances, halftime routines at basket ball games and other similar ac tivities. Spirit Week takes place in January and culminates at a home basketball game held on Saturday evening. Spring Week The energy and enthusiasm of every member of the Penn State- Behrend community is involved in the preparation and festivities of Spring Week. The celebration of Spring is expressed through a variety of social and cultural ac tivities that are held on the Penn State-Behrend campus. Honors and Awards Those students who have con tributed throughout the year to co curricular activities and those who have achieved academic honors are recognized at the Honors and Awards Convocation held in the Spr ing.
