Music at Noon: The Logan Wintergarden Series will continue its thirteenth season Wednes day, Feb. 11, with a lunchtime presentation by Irish rock group Bohola. The ensemble's noon performance in the Wintergarden of the Reed Union Building at Penn State Behrend is free and open to the public. This traditional Irish trio is composed of Jimmy Keane on accordion, Sean Cleland on fiddle, and Pat Broaders on dordan and bouzouki. Beginning with Tuesday night pub ses sions in 1999, Bohola has molded the Chicago Irish folk music spirit into an urbanized mixture of traditional influences. Linking together songs, tunes, and jigs, Bohola's impromptu sets are styled after an Irish jam session. Its surprising performances and unique style challenge listeners to abandon traditional approaches to Irish music. Following the release of a self-titled CD in early 2002, this group's appealing combina tion of sounds garnered a wide variety of audiences. Influenced by predecessors in the Irish folk genre, these three musicians drew on thousands of hours of jam sessions to perfect their sound The Logan Music Series was founded by Kay Logan in 1989 and is supported by the Harry A. Logan Jr. Foundation. Logan created this unique series as a way of bringing clas sical music to all audiences, including children. All of the musical groups incorporate an educational program with audience interaction into their performances, and each ensemble also performs at Diehl School, Penn State Behrend's Adopt-a-School partner. ••••••••••••••••••••••••• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • A Closer Look ,RIES FEATURES BOHOLA ON FEBRUARY 11 The Behrend Beacon 2 Monday - 7 p.m.- Marketing Club Mtg, Reed 3 7:30 p.m.- Outdoors Club Mtg, Reed 114 9 p.m.- IVCF Mtg, Reed 1 13 6 Friday 10 p.m.- Movie: "Kill Bill Vol. 1," Reed 117 Paga 9
