MONDAY, APRIL 23, 2001 Difficult doubleheaders give Behrend fourth seed by Kate Levdansky Petrikis staff writer The Behrend Lions baseball team has been busy lately. On April 11, the Lions played Fredonia in a doubleheader, win ning the first game 7-2 and losing the sec ond game 12-4. In the first game, right hander Chuck Sevin pitched a complete game. Sevin, usually a reliever, was mak ing his first-ever collegiate start for Behrend. "Sevin did a fantastic job. He has been a very steady pitcher for us in his three years," said coach Paul Benim. Sevin was named AMCC's Best of the Rest due to his performance. "Despite being a last minute decision to start, Charlie [Sevin] showed that he was ready to pitch. He stayed in control of the game the whole time and never gave Fredonia a chance," said second baseman Matt Slavonic. In game one Jake Boyle and Luke Bundy were both two for four with an RBI to lead the offense. Then, in game two, Chris Shearer shined, going two for three at the plate. On Saturday, Behrend lost a double header to Frostburg, by scores of 8-5 and 19-5. In game one, Behrend jumped ahead 4-0 in the top of the first inning on a three run triple by Jason Karas.
