Marsalis' has made an extraordinary name for himself in Ameri can pop culture he sits at the head of what is referred to as the "first family" of jazz. He is a renowned musician and jazz pia nist. However, he is also an influential teacher. Marsalis has helped to develop the musical Waits of many distinguished mu sicians, including Branford, Vi'ynton, Delfeayo, and Jason Marsalis. Acclaimed for their talented and exhilarating performances, the Eberli Ensemble boasts four talented virtuosos whose instruments include clarinet, violin, cello, and piano. They present innovative and entertaining programming ranging from the Baroque to avant garde. Named for the father and son craftsmen who worked in Prague during the golden age of stringed-instrument making in the 18th century, the group includes Evan Spritzer, Andrea Schultz, Michael Finckel, and Evelyne Luest. The ensemble performs a wide repertoire of Beethoven, Schubert, Faure, Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky as well as young composers Michael Torke and Aaron Jay Kernis.
