Martin and Sieg proving to be real Lion leaders By Jeanine Noce staff writer They came from Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and Westminster, Colorado, on August 18, 2000, and began conditioning for the Behrend Lions Soccer Team. These two experienced men are the captains of the men's soccer team and are seniors here at Behrend. Their goal: to successfully lead the Behrend Lions toward the title of conference champions. With this in mind the two fearless leaders, Tommy Sieg and James Martin, are working each and every day to assist the Behrend soccer team towards successfully defeating the competition. Sieg and Martin have collectively been playing soccer for thirty-three years. Sieg began at the age of six and Martin at the age of four. Martin said he chose to come across the United States for school because his father is from Pennsylvania. Martin was looking at Penn State University Park at first, but after talking to the coach at Penn State University Park, he decided that Behrend was the best choice for school and sports. Sieg and Martin are both MIS majors and agree that it is difficult James Martin has been a constant offensive force for the men's soccer team this year. to juggle playing soccer and the large amount of schoolwork. Martin stated, " Soccer and school are difficult time wise and energy wise." Sieg is the goalkeeper for the Lions, and Martin is a utility player for the team. Their practices are held daily from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sieg also has goalie practice on Mondays from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. One day off is customary for the team and Sieg and Martin use this time for the additional soccer related Tennis team remaining strong by Kate Levdanskv Petrikis staff writer The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team had a big week of match play, winning two matches against conference rivals, but losing a heartbreaker to Allegheny in the championship game of the third annual Behrend Lions women's tennis invitational for the second straight The Invitational took place on Saturday, September 16, and Behrend took second after losing to Allegheny.
