In addition, you have to run 26.2 miles before obtaining one of these spots. Sound impossible? The tandum competed in the twentieth annual Columbus Mara thon on November 14th in an at tempt to advance to the Boston Marathon. Both Musick and Saeger are very familiar with the perils of competi tive running. Brian, who began run ning for John F. Kennedy High School of Warren Ohio in ninth grade, was competing in his fourth marathon. Saeger also is an ex- 2-3 bedrooms, neously with a time of three hours and eight minutes. With the help of an experienced pace runner, who Musick and Saeger ran along side of during the ma jority of the race, they were able to run each tremely experi enced runner. He began his com petitive running career as a fresh- man at Conneaut Lake High onds. Their ability to keep a steady pace was a key fac tor in their abil ity to finish the race in under three hours and School, and the Columbus Mara thon was the third marathon that he has run. As for the Co lumbus Marathon itself, Musick and Saeger ran an in credible race un- der the circum stances. Battling a twenty mile-per hour wind for the final two miles of the marathon, the pair crossed the finish line simulta- mile in an aver- age of seven minutes and thirteen sec- Brian Musick and Jason Saeger display their medals that they won at the Marathon. From the start thry had their goals set on advanc ing to the Boston Marathon. Throughout the race they tried to fo cus on everything but running. Ei ther they would try to motivate the crowd or talk amongst themselves.
