Baldwin earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1972 and taught at Yankton College in South Dakota before coming to Behrend in 1975. His interest in the British short story grew out of research for a biography, “H.E. Bates: A Literary Life”, and continues in his books, “V.S. Pritchett” and “Virginia Woolf: A Study of the Short Fiction.” pennState Two more books, an annotated bibliography of the short story in English co-written with Dr. Gregory Morris, a Behrend associate professor of American literature, and “The British Short Story, 1945-1980”, are scheduled for publication this year.
