rs ea 10 Dallas Post Dallas, PA May 9, 2001 Round-Up Dallas 5, Nanticoke 4 In a very entertaining game, the Mountaineers pulled out a one- run victory against Nanticoke Friday at home, Dallas took com- mand early with three in the first. Nanticoke was able to tie the game at 3 after three innings of play. The locals answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth. The game stayed 4-3 until the top of the seventh when a Trojanette rally tied the score at 4. However Dallas manufactured a run in the bottom of the inning to clinch the win. Shannon Thomas was the winning pitcher, throwing all seven innings, and giving up five hits and two walks. Offensively Kelly Brozowski went 2-4 with a double, while Erin Swepston had two singles in three at-bats. Carrie Thimot added a key triple as her only hit of the ballgame. (continued from page 9) Lake-Lehman 3, GAR 2 Lake-Lehman rebounded from the tough loss in Nanticoke by knocking off GAR in another one-run contest. The teams traded runs in the first inning and then again in the fifth inning. The win- ning run for the Knights came in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the victory. Carla Chiampi again pitched well on the mound, strik- ing out six while giving up just four hits and three walks in seven innings. Offensively she added two singles in a 2-3 performance. Colleen Mahon had a stellar performance for the winners, finishing with three hits in four at-bats. VOLLEYBALL Lake-Lehman 2, North Pocono 0 The Black Knights fought off its toughest challenge of the season and remained unbeaten after their win against North Pocono. Game scores were 18-16 and 15-7. Josh Gregg served 10 points and had three blocks in a key role, and Matt Dunn had four blocks and 14 kills along the front line. Josh Baranowski and B.J. Lewis combined for eighteen of Lehmanis 33 points. Baranowski added seven kills while Lewis blocked three. Cory Spencer had three blocks as well. He also had eight kills to go along with those key blocks. Dallas 2, Wyoming Area O The Mountaineers won in Wyoming 15-9, 15-4 Friday evening. Pat Besecker was strong in the middle, dishing out 15 asssists and dig- ging four. Art Redmond had four digs as well, and he also killed nine. Ryan Chulbicki had eight kills to go along with his seven blocks. Shane Schrader had four blocks and five kills in another solid Mountaineer effort. BASEBALL Dallas 7, Hanover Area 1 Dallas scored multiple runs in the second, fourth, and fifth in- nings to continue its winning ways and defeat Hanover Area 7-1. In all the Mountaineers pounded out 15 hits in the game. Darrell Evans went 3-5 including a double with a pair of runs scored to lead the way. Fellow senior Josh Katyl also went 3-5 in the game. Jere- my Harris, winning pitcher Kyle Ehlis, and Jason Race each finished 2-4. Harris knocked in three and doubled. Jordy Spencer scored a pair of runs from the nine spot in the lineup. Ehlis finished with eight strikeouts. Crestwood 6, Lake-Lehman 0 The Comets scored a pair of runs in each of the first, third, and sixth innings to earn the home win against Lake-Lehman The pitching staff for Crestwood allowed just three hits.
