During the past two years, he has been connected with the Civil En gineering Department of Purdue University, in charge of the sub de partment of Hydraulics. His work at that institution was estimated highly by his colleagues, and he has had a strong influence with the stu dent body. New Republican Club Organized. A meeting of the Republican stu dent voters was held in the Old Chapel on Monday evening and amidst great enthusiasm a Republi can club was organized. The objects of the organization are to stir up political enthusiasm and awaken voters to the issues of the campaign, and to try to induce more men to go home for the November election. A liberal sup ply of campaign literature and badges had been provided, and the voters are without doubt well in formed by this time on the issues of the campaign. The new club will apply for membership in the state and national leagues of Republican clubs, and it is probable that speakers from both of these leagues will visit the Col lege within a week or two. The registration at the first meet ing was 170, and others have since joined. The officers elected are as follows: president, R. M. Pennock; vice president. J. W. Loose; secre tary, C. Henry; treasurer, L. M. Fisher; marshal, H. J. Bennett. AMONG OTHER COLLEGES. Bates College opened with a fresh man class numbering 134. The enrollment at Yale this year is 3600, about 200 more than last year. More than a million and a half of dollars will be spent for new build ings at Princeton this year.
