The reports of the correspondents of tbe agricultural department of Illinois show an improvement in the corn crop in all parts of the state. The area of the grow grew ing crop is about 7,000,000 acres, and a crop of 180,000,000 bushels is indicated, with a possibility, if the iP?6??-1 continues, that it may reach 200,000,000. The state beard of agriculture of Ne braska estimates the condition of the crops in that state as follews: Cern, 90 per cent: spring wheat, 96 ; rye, 93 ; eats, 100; barely, 103 ; flax, 107. Reports from all parts of Dakota show a slight improve ment in the wheat crop A similar im prevement is noted in the Red River valley. The Northwestern Miller, of Minneapolis, says; "The wheat stored in the Minnea polis elevators, including the transfer ele vator, en July 10 was 1,2C2,000 bushels. There were about 475,000 bushels in the mills, making the total amount of wheat in store in the city 1,737,000 bushels against 1,595,000 last week. 'The wheat stored at St. Paul is about 218,000 bushels. The wheat in store in the Duluth elevator is 330,032 bushels." The state veterinarian of Illinois reports that glanders are prevalent among the horses in 18 counties of that state. He says the owners prevented him from kill ing the afflicted animals, their attorneys contending that he could only resort te that measure alter tue governor uau ihsueu a proclamation declaring the glanders evidemie The attorney general is new expected te give an opinion as te the powers of the veterinarian under the state laws.
