The platform calls for an economical ndmiuistratieu of the affairs of the cemt menwcaltli ; it contains net ene word in Taver of an economical administration of the affairs of the iutiqn. It calls for the abolition 'of all taxes riot required for necessities of the. state'.gevcrameat; it ay3 nethiug about abolishing the taxes nefc'requircd for necessities of the United States government. It declares that fraud and waste must be stepped at Harrisburg ; id is silent about fraud and waste at Wash - tngteu. That is why we ;ay the platform is dis- honest. Mr. Wharten Barker's scheme for dis posing of the surplus icvcnue of the United States government, ever aud abeve what may be wasted by the votes of job bing congressmen and stelen by rascals in eflice, is te distiibute it among the states, te be applied te state expenses ! Of this plan the leading Republican newspaper in Philadelphia says: " V.re hepe te see it next year transformed into a national ucpublicamdea." If Congress' can constitutionally levy taxes te provide for any 'part of the state expenses or le lelieve any pat t of " the bnidens of local tax::ion," it can levy taxes te provide for .all the expenses of tho the :!ftrs. This would be about equal te the schemb Ilorace Greeley used te laugh at of paying ail taxes cut of the public tteasury. This is"why vt e say the platform is crazy. A .eit-yentr.utIct)ry rtatfutiu.
