Anether EuglUh Ktte Waiting for Ameri can Melrs A Lawyer Leeking ler Certain Williams and .Vacktues. In the last few days an advertisement iu the "Personals" el tbe Herald calling for information m reference te a j,ww,ww legacy in England, for which the heirs are said te be wanting, has attracted consider able attention. Yesterday the English lawyer who had inserted this " Peisenal was called upon and some particulars of the case were ascertained, which sur rounded ifc with no little mystery. The first impetus given te the present inquiry was by the following advertisement, which appeared in the Herald of December 20, 1880: IMPORTANT ;,000,OJI)-M11S. B. 1. BACK US, formerly S. A. llaywanl, IlalUuiere Md.. will send her address te Alfred Wlllard William, nxcciiler of estate of illlain Hrewii, hngland. This will, though contested since jhTi. is new settled in bchalt el the above named party. By order of the executer. A. W . Brown, according te the statements of the lawyer,- was a rich young country gentleman from Yorkshire, Eugland, who came te this country in 1873 in company with one Alfred Willard Williams, and traveled about for some years, residing for a considerable portion of the time iu Bosten, where he was well known. At the Parker house his name has been feuud en the register, and he is recalled as a tall, line, hearty-looking Englishman of lavish habits, no is aise saiu te nave mm ., the Tromeut house, but of this no proof has thus far been obtained. Where he died is net known, but the lawyer in question claims te have received correborativo information from seme lawyers that Brown's estate in Yorkshire had lieen. the subject of a will contest which had been decided faveial.ly te the lights of the Mrs. Backus nee Hay ward, of Baltimore, mentioned ia the advertise ment. Who Mis. Backus was is a puzzling feature of the case, and it is equally crplexiug te guess what her rela tion te Brown could have been tohave cn ;mi lmt-tathn ft?. 000.000 Yorkshire es tate. Williams was in NowYerk last August before his return te Eugland. He stepped at the Aster heuse, where he is still re membered. It is new supposed that Wil liams, as well as Mrs. Backus, has also died, and no trace has thus far been feuud te the heirs or kinsmen of of either of the three persons involved in the mystery. It is a remarkable fact in these days when " bogus " claimants te large inheritances spring up like mushrooms that net a single reply has been rvceived by the English lawyer te the advertisement which has appeared in the Herald for thrce or four days. Williams was supposed te have been searching for the nebulous Mrs. Backus hist August, and te have died broken-hearted from the kuowlcdge that the vast cstate might be diverted from its rightful owner, the fair Mrs. Backus in, the case of his death. It is new sought te fiud the heirs of Williams and Mrs. Backus in order that they might accept the estate, but thus far no success has crowned the efforts of the Euglish lawyers engaged iu this noble search en both hemispheres. Thus far there have been many English estates for which American heirs have been advertised which have shown them selves of a rather shadowy and evanescent nature, but the English lawyer claims that there is no doubt of this cesy little $2,000,000 property actually awaiting in Yorkshire the first true-blooded Williams and Backus who may turn up. AFTER THE 4th. After the Fourth of July finds us heavily overstocked with many kinds of goods for summer. They must be sold at whatever price they will quickly bring. It isn't practicable te set particulars befote yen in the papers te-day, nor in deed any day, with anything like fullness. Whatever -we have feo much of for the season will be marked down as .seen as we get te it, taking the most urgent thiugs first. Lawns that should have sold at 12 cents when they came, a week age, must new go at 10 cents. Woolen checks, debeiges, llanuel suitings, silk and wool garnitures and black grcuadiues go down. Many sorts of hosiery ; men's and boys' hats of a great many sorts ; and all the ladies' trimmed hate and bon nets go down. Beys' clothing suffers, a sovcre sorting out. Seme whole stocks and all broken ones go down, Laces, embroideries and white goetfs we can't reduce the price of, no matter hew many thcie arc ; for we have all the trade we can serve new. Besides goods that are se strictly seasonable as te te urgent, U the odds and ends in the store go down. Whatever you may want there's a fair probability th.it we have it below the market price.
