Hess has been named the recipient of the American Agricultural Foun dation Award for Vocational Agriculture, given annually by Tile Society of Farm Women #> l. As the recipient Of this award, Fred has excelled in scholarship, leadership and farmirig program activities while studying in the areas of Vocational Agriculture. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S Hess of Leola HI and attended Warwick High School. While in high school, he was on the varsity wrest ling team, participated in both the band and the orches tra and was active m Various student activities. He was elected by the student body to the Boiough Council in the annual Youth Day in Gov ernment elections this past spring. Fred has been very active in the FFA and county 4-H Clubs He has served as presi dent, vice president and sen tinel of the Warwick chapter of FFA and was sentinel of the county FFA He has re ceived the Red Rose Degree, shown in the County FFA Swine show, attended area FFA Leadership Training Con ferences, participated in Coun ty Public Speaking, area Land Judging Contest and came in second at the tractor driving contest at Ephrata Fair. His farming program has oonsist erd mainly of swine fattening and improvement projects.
