TONI YOUNG Photo By TERRI WINTERS AMY ABBEY As of. August 1978, Toni Young has been working at Penn State four years. She began as a faculty secretary. Within a few months she was secretary to Paul Cerula, business manager. Her duties consisted of handling student accounts, making out the bi-weekly payroll for wage people, collecting drop-add and late payment fees, writing out checks and balancing the check book - to mention a few. So ii ; * r u,. ,t feii i I’m leaving you today to take off for the sun, To try to find my place in life and a love to last through eternity Please don’t cry or beg me to stay please, can’t you see That you and I are nothing more than a dream, leftover from yesterday. DL As I live let me love. When I love allow me to give. As I give, let me also receive. Although I am talkative, allow me my silences. As I listen, let me hear truth. If I become upset, allow me time to understand. When I’m hurt, let me cry. If I cry, let me also laugh. As I challenge myself, allow me room to change and improve. If I compare myself to others, show me that 1 am wrong. As I mature, help me tetind security and confidence within myself. For I am who I am, and not anybody else. n ~•* a jo a m Poetrg Comer How can I forget, All the fun we use to have? How can I forget, 1 The good times that we shared? ALLOW ME $ when you realized a certain course wasn't for you, or you didn’t get your tuition payment in on time, you knew who you must see. When the position as Dr. Davids secretary became available, Toni applied. Dr. David, one of Penn States ad ministrators interviewed Toni. She got the job. Needless to say with a new job comes new responsibilities. For the reason that she has only held this position for a month most of these new obligations have not yet been introduced to Toni. However, she is kept busy doing such things as the monthly payroll and the monthly budget. Being secretary for Paul Cerula and now secretary for Dr. David does not consist of a great deal of change. Instead of weekly payrolls, monthly payrolls are issued. One of the main differences Toni mentions is being less involved with students and now having a more “private” job; Toni Young has now held each of the three positions that are determined 'by grade levels at the Hazleton Campus. The first is classified as 4-receptionist, faculty secretar, 5-business of fice and finally 6-being a secretary to Dr. David. Anderson-Lee is fifteen years of age and is in the eighth grade. Anderson is attending a public school and lists basketball, foot ball, and horseback riding as his interests.
