Lions split
Pwith Grove
The weather-tested baseball
Lions earned a split Saturday on
the road with Grove City
College.
The split placed the overall
record at 5-12 entering the final
two doubleheaders of the season.
In game one, Scott Frantz
started the game on the hill and
finished, overcoming a shaky
three-run first for GCC.
Meanwhile, the Lions' bats
were red-hot, picking up two runs
in the second, and four in the
fourth on their way to a 9-3 win.
Jim Tibor led off the rally in
the second with a single. Andy
Wheeling plated Tibor with a
double and scored moments later
on Dave Mazur's RBI single.
In the fourth, the Lions
hammered out five hits to plate
four runs and to blow open the
game.
Dan Shrock led off with a
single and was pushed up on a
walk to Tibor, a single by Shawn
Krepps, another single by Mazur,
Clarification
On April 23, 1992, The
Collegian contained a letter to the
editor entitled "Poor Sport" that
I had submitted.
I would like to clarify a few
items of that letter. First of all,
this particular basketball player
was only labeled as such for
identification purposes only.
Secondly, this particular
basketball player was a member
of the 1990-91 men's basketball
team and not this year's squad.
Finally, this one player's
twinbill
City
and freebie to Bill Weimerend a
Bill Graham single.
Krepps picked up an RBI in the
inning as did Weimer and
Graham.
By that time, Frantz was on
cruise control and well on his
way to picking tip win #4 on the
season. Overall, the righthander
limited the Wolverines to eight
hits and the three first inning
runs. Multi-hitters for the Lions
in game one was Frantz, Krepps,
and Mazur.
Dan Shrock started game two
and pitched well despite losing 4-
2. The Lions got off to a solid
start plating two runs in the first.
Chris Myers hit his second
dinger of the campaign to lead
things off. Back to back doubles
by Shrock and Tibor scored the
second run.
The Lions collected five
singles the rest of the way but
were shut out by the Wolverine
staff. Tibor was the lone Lion
with two hits.
attitude does not reflect on either
last year’s or this year's team.
Coach Fred Paulsen has done
a great job with the talented
individuals on this campus, and
even led this year's team to a
second place finish in the
E.C.A.C.
I apologize for any disrespect
that Coach Paulsen or his team
members may have experienced,
with the exception of this one
particular person.

the doubleheader as Bethany

Losing pitcher Casey
Pultemann pitched well, only
giving up three runs and five hits

Last Wednesday the Lions

was the winning pitcer in the
first game. She pitched a two
