Page 8 Beat those mid- term blues Take in a by Craie Campbell The Collegian Most of us being knee-deep in mid-terms by now are anxiously awaiting spring break when we can throw down our studies, head toward a crowded beach and smear tanning oil on a scantily-clad chick. Or maybe you'd rather watch a few videos... Class Action Gene Hackman and that chick from Robin Hood (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio or something like that) star in this film as father and daughter lawyers. They don’t have the Beaver Cleaver family that the rest of us do and things get worse when the daughter comes up against her dad in court. The dad is the underdog of the courtroom who is out to get money for victims of a wrongly designed car that tends to explode at times. The daughter is defending the car company and trying to become a partner in her law firm, but she soon sees that the people she's defending have a slightly mixed up sense of right and wrong. It's then that she is torn between her own sense of right and wrong and her duty to the 10. Close Encounters of the Third Kind - This is one of the few films made where aliens come to Earth and instead of the hero fighting them, the hero fights other Earthlings! 9. Conan the Barbarian - This classic Schwarzenegger film started his fame. Even though it is made before he had fully mastered the English language, the swordplay and the action make it. a classic worth watching again. 8. Predator ~ Another Schwarzenegger film! This time he comes up against someone that he can't beat in a fist fight Honest! 7. Robocop -- Set in a high crime future, the only hope we have is a cyborg made with the remains of a dead cop. Plus the noises Robocop's motors make when he walks around are really cool. 6. Highlander - This film deals with an immortal swashbuckler who is trying to lead a somewhat normal life while fighting his way up the supernatural ladder of success. Cruise Lines Now Hiring. Charlie Sheen has the title role in this film as a cop just out of the academy to work in car theft in California. Eastwood and Sheen start off not really hating each other but having difficulties bonding with each other. Eastwood manages to get most of the work on his case done while Sheen has his badge stolen, gets beat-up and arrests a pair of guard dogs. Then Eastwood gets captured incredible. Gunfights, explosions, sex - it has everything! Eastwood delivers an excellent performance (as always), and Sheen manages to hold his own. It has humorous scenes that break up the action and keep the viewers'interest. I highly recommend this film. The Rocketeer <stk Earn $2OO-$5OO weekly mailing travel brochures. What else could a movie need? 4. Terminator - Schwarzenegger again! This time he plays a cyborg sent from the future to kill the mother of the future leader of the resistance against the machines. Everyone should see this film. 3. Blade Runner -- This film is actually more of a drama set in the future, but the flying cars, cyborgs and fantastic cities push it into the science fiction category. 2. Alien -- Most people like the sequel (Aliens) better than this film because of the violence and action. The first one however had a much darker, claustrophobic feel that created more tension. 1. The Star Wars Trilogy -- It is kind of cheating to pick three films as number one and group them together like this, but what're you gonna do, I'm the one writing this. These films open up a new door in the science fiction genre. They are classic tales told in new and exciting ways. ♦Earn Extra Income* After Batman came out I thought turning comics into films was a great idea. Then I saw Dick Tracy and was so disappointed, I changed my mind and thought comic books should be left on the shelves and out of the theater. After watching the Rocketeer, I changed my mind again. This film centers around a gutsy test pilot, a hot chick, a Nazi spy and a rocket pack. Bruce Campbell (my brother) System plays Cliff, the gutsy test pilot who wrecks his plane but finds a rocket pack. Jennifer Conneley plays the hot chick who is dating Cliff and struggling to become a famous actress. Timothy Dalton plays the Nazi spy who is diligently trying to get the rocket pack so Germany can rule the world. And the rocket pack plays the rocket pack. oP SMART! Thursday, March 5, 1992 The hero in this film is believable; he screws up his relationship with his girlfriend, bumbles his way into danger and, when he fights the bad guy, doesn't seem to fight that well. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and you probably will too (unless you don't). Delirious No, this isn't that Eddie Murphy movie that everyone has seen and stolen jokes from. It's that John Candy movie that no one has seen. Candy stars in this film as a soap opera writer who knocks himself on the head one day (accidentally) and wakes up in the soap opera world that he writes about. Candy readily accepts this and then writes himself into the story lines, making himself the hero. At first this film is enjoyable as it pokes fun at the soaps and Candy is somewhat enjoyable, but it soon loses all potential and begins to drag. This was a neat idea for a film, but it wasn't pulled off right. I didn't even watch this film to the end; 1 turned it off somewhere near the middle. In fact, I changed my mind... this film doesn't even deserve a Bullwinkle Head. 80.00 £„ r »« WMb 454-0070 111 West 9th St.
