Graduate School
A few years ago most seniors,
looking ahead to a bountiful job
market with lots of prospects,
would have laughed and said grad
school was for doctors, lawyers
and philosophy profs.
But with a not-so-bountiful
job market, a lingering recession
and more positions requiring
advanced degrees, this year's
senior class is taking a harder
look at graduate schools. In fact,
plans for graduate school aren't
just for seniors.
"It's never to early to start
looking at graduate school
possibilities," said Mary Beth
Peterson, director of Career
Development and Placement.
"Even sophomores and juniors
should begin to consider looking
into graduate school programs."

what field you want to enter after
getting your undergraduate degree.
Some fields require specific
masters degrees or further in
depth training. Knowing which
direction you're headed can help
you find a school that has the
program you need.

To help students overcome the
fear of the unknown, the Career
Development and Placement
Services Office and the Penn
State-Behrend Alumni Society
have designed a series of alumni
discussion panels.
