Behrend briefs
Alpha Phi Omega would like everyone to
hurry and place all Campbell soup labels and Giant
Eagle and Loblaws receipts in the drop boxes located
in each division office and the RUB desk. The
receipts will be collected by the end of the week.
Proceeds will go towards purchasing computer
equipment for Diehl Elementary.
Catch the light, sponsored by the Campus
Ministry is the beginning of an advent light service
on Friday, December 8 at 5 pm in the Reed Lecture
Hall.
The "Snow Ball" semi-formal dance will be
held February 3 in the Wintergarden from 10 pm to 2
am. Ticket sales will begin in January, so remember
to bring your best duds from home.
Lambda Sigma's Care Package Day is
Thursday, December 7. Any student living on
campus, Kanty Village or in the EKN house may be
the recipient of a bag of goodies from their parents.
The packages will be delivered today or can be
picked up at a table in Reed 117 on Friday from 10 am
to 2 pm. Students must have their Penn State . lD to
pick up packages.
The Tempus Literary Magazine is once
again accepting submissions of literature from
Behrend's finest students. Please submit all entries
before Jan. 31, 1990 to Chris Dubbs or at the RUB
desk.
Am 1450 WPSE is looking for reliable,
exciting, energetic individuals interested in several
areas of our broadcast operation. We need a play-by
play announcer for Behrend Women's basketball
home games. We also need assistants in our
newsroom. Plus, anyone interested in being a DJ in
the future is invited to learn how to be a board
operator, which is a prerequisite for doing record
shows. Sports announcers call Brett Banker at 6280.
News and future DJs call Fred Anzivino at 6171 or
Ken Bunting at 6318.
The Chemistry Club end of year thing will be
held on Friday, December 8 at 4:30 in 110 Science.
There will be fabulous prizes and valuable
information.
The 41st Annual Hanging of the Greens
will take place on Friday, December 8 at 7 pm in the
Behrend Chapel, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. The
blue bus will be available for students wishing to
attend and will leave the Reed Union Parking lot at
6:30 pm. For more information contact the Office of
Student Activities at 6171.
The Behrend Concert Choir will present a
Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 9 at 8 pm
in the Wintergarden in the Reed Union Building.
Admission is $2.
The student relations committee needs a
few good people for the spring semester 90. For
more information see Esalete or Sandy in the SGA
office as soon as possible.
Remember: All estimated bills must be filed by
Friday December 8.
Students that are signed up for Comm.
001 should watch for notices for the organizational
meeting early next semester.
Christmai,Caroling: The Zeta Beta Tau fraternity
will be caroling at the Veteran's Administration
Hospital at 2 pm on Saturday, December 9.
SGA President Stan Washington looks back
on his first semester in office

The Student Government
Association's greatest
accomplishment this year has
been the restoration of the
Wintergreen Cafe, according to
SGA President Stan Washington.
SGA senators took the voice
of Behrend students to
Administrators and encouraged
the Cafe to institute a number of
price reforms, according to
Theft by deception cases reported

Three cases involving theft by
deception were reported to the
Department of Police and Safety
on November 30. Initial reports
indicate that in each case, false
student identification was used to
secure a loan.
- According to Officer Paul
Douglas, an unknown person
received a $lOO Bernreuter
Emergency Loan from the
Financial Aid Office on October
26. The crime was discovered
during collection efforts, and
campus police are investigating.
Two loans, each valued at
$4O, were obtained from the Rub
Desk in the same manner.
Douglas reported that the loans
granted on November 2 and
November 21.
Douglas further indicated that
the department considers the two
'cases to be related, even though
two different people were
involved, because the same false
student identification was used
A stereo valued at $2OO was
stolen from a student's vehicle
while it was parked in C Lot on
November 30. The student told
police he believed he had locked
his car. When he returned the
stereo which had been mounted
on a removable tray, was missing
and the car was locked.
Douglas said that officers
found no evidence of forced entry
and no additional damage to the
vehicle. Police are continuing
the investigation.
Icy road conditions at the
intersection of Station Road and
the main entrance of the campus
contributed to two, related
accidents on November 29.
Douglas reported that a
vehicle driven by a student
entering the campus from Station
Road slid into a car stopped in
the main drive at the stop sign.

semester in office.
Washington said he came into
office hoping to bring diversity
and untiy into SGA.
After three monthes,
Washington feels he has
accomplished those goals - at
least in part. Washington
explained he would like to see
senators spreading these ideas to

again by another driver

Douglas reported that there were
no injuries in either of the
accidents.
The Behrend Bookstore turned
four cases involving bad checks
over to the campus police for
further action on November 29.
Douglas said the department has
contacted three of the students
involved and is still trying to

wrinkles to iron out."
Now, Washington feels the
senators are more involved in the
organization than in previous
years.
"This semester alone, SGA
has accomplished more as a
group than all last year," said

reported the student was taking a
short cut to leave thd campus.
A second male student was
referred on November 20 for
disorder by conduct. According to
Douglas, the student was
shouting obscenities at officers
after he was asked to move his
illegally parked vehicle.
