Behrend briefs
The comedy and music of Hugh Fink will be
presented by SPC on Thursday, November 9 in the
Reed Lecture Hall at 8 pm.
A book sale will be conducted by Behrend's
literary magazine the Tempus today.
A licorice sale in the Wintergreen Cafe Lobby will
be held all week by Alpha Sigma Alpha.
"How to Conduct a Job Search" will be
presented Friday, November 10 in the Reed
Conference Room as part of the Career and
Placement Workshop series.
A professional tattoo artist will be presenting a
discussion and demonstration on the art of tattoos
Thursday, November 9 at 7 pm in the Apartment
Community Center. Refreshments will be served.
Flu shots are available through November 30 at the
Health Center for the price of $6, which will be
billed to your account.
Operation Id is being held by Police and Safety in
the Lawrence Lobby TODAY. If you have any
valuables you want engraved with an ID number in
case of theft this is your last day.
Seniors planning to graduate in January must place
their cap and gown orders no later than Friday,
November 10. The cost is $l4.

Alpha Phi Omega would like everyone to place all
Campbell soup labels and Giant Eagle and Loblaws
receipts in the drop boxes located in each division
office and the RUB desk. Proceeds will go towards
purchasing computer equipment for Diehl
Elementary.
Basketball Season Tickets are on sale for
students in Reed. The cost is only $5.
Student Orientation Director Position is now
available. Applicants must be fourth semester or
lower and will also earn 3 academic credits. For

Navy general officer recruiting and medical
programs will have information tables set up in the
Reed Student Union Lobby on Wednesday,
November 8 from 10 am to 2 pm.
A dance marathon is being sponsored by the
Commuter Council on November 18 and 19 to benefit
the United Way. There is a $lO entrance fee for
singles, $2O for couples that is refunded once the
participants have turned in their pledges.
Major Stanislav Levchenko, the highest ranking
KGB agent to defect to the U.S., will present "Inside
the KGB: Implications for the 1990'5" on Tuesday,
November 14, at 8 pm in the Reed Lecture Hall as
part of the speaker series.
Mark P. Woytowich will give a reading of poetry
and fiction as part of the Alumni Reading Series at
7:30 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the Studio Theatre.

Behrend's smoking policy may
once again be coming under fire in
the upcoming months.
After the April 3 introduction
of the program, most smokers
were extremely cooperative in
smoking outdoors. However, now
that an Erie winter is upon the
campus, smokers have the cold
weather to deal with.
Keith Houser, a freshman, sees
the policy as relatively fair.
"I don't see why professors
shouldn't be allowed to smoke in
their own offices, but I personally
do not mind smoking outside. "
