8 THE TIMES NEW liLOOMFIELD, PA.. JANUARY 20, 1880. Grave Robbery In Ohio. Tbo people of Logan County, nregroatly excited over a ousa of gravo-robbery. A few dnya ago the body of Theodora Jones won bmicd on the fnnn of Williams Uallnml, ono mile from Spring 1 1111b. On Thursday, while tending hU sliuep, Mr. (iallaud discovered that tho grave had been dlstiir bod, and the next morning a party of citizen, on examining the pot, found that a bole bad been dug at the head of the grave, the coffin smashed In, a hook Insert ed In the Jaw, and the body drawn fromjta resting-place. The olothon wore then taken off and roplaoed In the grave, whloh was not tilled up. after whloh the body was dragged over tho rough ground a distance of half a mile to the road. All along the way pieces of llesb. wero found sticking to the corn-stubs aud the fouces, Bhowlng very plainly whore the body bud beou dragged through the mud. Two vehicles bad boen hitched to the follow, from which place the tracks diverged, one going to ward Spring Hills aud the other toward Urbauna. The neighbors mo horrified. Mr. Amos lluntor has offered a reward of $500, nnd another gentleman one of f 200. The cnrrlugo usod for the purpose was hir ed at a West Liberty livery stable. One of the men who eugaged It has been Ident ified as a medical student from that place, who is attending tho Columbus Medloal .College A Surprised Administrator. An ludtau'polis exchange says : Several years ago art employe of ono of tho rail road companies fvhoso Hues euter this city, died at bis home aw the other termiuua of bis road. Time passed on, and tbo settle ment of bis estate was ubout completed by Ibo administrator (it wasr'.t a very exhaust lug or herculean perfornian.ce)i when he was surprised to receive a note from the oflicors of an Indianapolis bank, hiking if the deceased did not have a bank boo.1 'n his possession at the timo of his dentil' Tho administrator replied that ho bad not found one, and was then told to visit In dianapolis and be would loaru something 40 his advantage. He did so, and calling at the bank was astounded by the informa tion that his dead friend had about $18,000 on deposit thero, of which bis family bad not the slightest kuowlcdge, and on pres entation of proper proof was delivered to the administrator for the benefit of the es tate. A Girl Wanted. For several days the police all over the State have been on tho lookout for a soiled dove known as Amy Iturdette, who has fallen heir to a fortune in Albany, New Yoik. Ilor real uamo is Anna Cole, and a few years ago she was bright, vivacious young girl in her teens, a resident of a small town Just outsido Albany, N. Y. She was betrayed and driven into the world and soon drifted over into this State. For a while she reformed, living at Lancaster and Wilkesbarre, but soon went back to ber life of shamo. She went to Pottsville and then disappeared, and is thought is now In Philadelphia. Her grandfather, G. I). Mann of Albany, has died, leaving ber iv small fortune. Big Grass. Mr. Hugh Miller, of Rock town, who has been living in Nebraska for some months past, and who returned home weeks ago, brought into our office to-day a bunch of the heads of grass grown in that State, which beat anything in the grass line that we have seen for many a day. The heads are a foot iu length, and full of small ones branching out, all of them load ed with seeds. Mr. Miller says that cattle eat the coarse grass very greedily, prefer ing it to timothy or clover, and that before feeding, it is necessary to thrash it, as there is too much seed about it to feed without knocking considerable of it off. A Strange Case. The petrified child in the family of J. A. Kinsley, of New Philadelphia, continues to attract general attention, and is concid ered by all who have seen it to be the won der of wondors. The hardness has gradual ly spread all over the entire body, some portions being so hard that not the slight est Indentation can be made. The case la said to be without a parallel in history, and the singular disease has thus fat baffled all medical skill. How the obild can live iu this solidified state is tbe greatest mys tery. The patents are greatly grieved over its sad sffliction aud are doing everything in their power for its relief. A Careful Father. A Cumberland Co., papa put it thus to his daughter's beau : "Jim, if you want Loo you can bave her; but I don't want you banging around unless you mean bus iness. If you iDtend to marry bor, be quick about it, for I . can't keep awake late at night much longer." 133" The sheriff of Wilson County, Kan sag, "took in" a horse thief at forty yards range the other day. Ha thought to make his escape by kuockingthe sheriff down with a stone. Tbe sheriff rose and shot him dead at be ran. Information for the People! mi Jiist Iteccived Somo Special bargains !
