Basketball girls win opener
in first year of league play
The DHS girl’s basketball
team opened the season
with a 40-32 win over
Manheim Central at Done-
gal last Friday.
The Indian girls were
behind 9-14 at halftime, but
outscored their opponents in
the final two periods.
High scorers for DHS
were Butch Kolp (16 points)
and Kathy Shelly (11 points)
The JVs lost 28-14.
This is the first year of
league play for the Donegal
girls.
Coach Bill Earhart says,
“It’s a learning year. We
have a young team, and
we're just hoping to make
them competetive this
year.”

Parent’s Basketball Boosters
The first meeting of the
Donegal High School Pa-
rents Basketball Booster
Club was held after the
home game on Tuesday,
November 25. Officers were
selected for the coming
year. They are as follows:
president, Barry Etsel; vice-
president, George McCue;
secretary, Georgianne Mc-
t Cue; treasurer, Bill Barto.
t Events for the present
basketball season were dis-
cussed, and committees to
arrange for the Holiday
Basketball Tournament
were selected.
The meetings should be
attended by parents of
Donegal basketball players
and those interested in
promoting Donegal basket-
ball. The group will meet in
the Donegal cafeteria foi-
lowing the home game on
Friday, December 12.
Indian hoopsters are 1 and 1
The Indians began this
basketball season by beat-
ing Octoraro in Mount Joy.
The team dropped their
second game to Dallastown,
losing 71-84. Dallastown
beat the J.V. squad 72-62.
High scorers for the
varsity were Fellenbaum (21
points), Bradley and McCue
(16 each) and Miller (12
points).
