WALTER FRANK by James W. Reapsome The Rev. Walter Frank, General Director of the Greater Europe Mission since his appointment in 1960, will be speaking at the Congregational Bible Church, Rt. 441, Marietta, on Sunday, November 30, at 7pm, Mr. Frank has served as a member of the GEM Board of Trustees since his return from Europe in 1954, where he was involved in evange- lism as a field representa- tive for Youth for Christ International in Germany. He also served on the board of the Africa Inland Mission for ten years. For eighteen years, Mr. Frank pastored three chur- ches in Pennsylvania. His last pastorate was at the Bethel Bible Fellowship Church in Allentown, where he conducted one of the largest annual church mis- sionary conferences in the East. The Greater Europe Mis- sion sponsors ten Bible institutes in Europe. Other ministries include evange- lism, church-planting, con- ferences, camps, literature, and radio. Currently there are more than 180 GEM missionaries serving in 12 European countries. Mr. Frank serves in the U.S.headquarters of the mission in Wheaton, Ill. LORD‘S SUPPER The Sacrament of The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated on the First Sun- day in Advent, November 30, at Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, in the 9:30 a.m. worship service. The first candle on the Advent wreath will be lit as the congrega- tion begins its preparation for Christmas. The sermon of the mor- ning will be in the form of a dramatic dialogue entitled, “A Walk in The Wild World.”” The Rev. Clair Wagner, Jr., and A. Lloyd Bewley as Judas will share in the dialogue. Special music for the service will include a duet by Sandra Heisey and Stempen Smith--‘‘Father, Lead Me Day By Day.’’ The Senior Choir will sing, “Come, Let Us Worship Him’’ by Blakley. Bruce and Mark Wagner will accom- pany the anthem on the |, trumpet and trombone. An Advent Family Work- shop will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a covered-dish supper. The workshop project will be the making of Chrismons, decorative monograms of Christ. Ruth Smith, Fern Ney, and Lorraine Wagner are planning the workshop. We are happy to share these special Advent events with the community. November 26, 1975 ST. JOHN‘S ANNUAL COVERED DISH DINNER The annual covered dish dinner was held on Wednesday, November 19 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Marietta. Fifty-two people were present to enjoy the many varieties of cover- ed dishes made by families of the parish. On November 23, the members of St. John’s were hosts to the fireman and their families from the Marietta Pioneer Fire Com- pany. The monthly card party will be held Monday, Dec- ember 1, at 8:00. At that time a beautiful afghan hand-made and donated by Elsie Marley will be chanced off. The public is invited to attend. The Thanksgiving service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening. The pub- lic is welcome to attend. ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH by Hazel Baker Eighty-seven members of Zion Evangelical Luth eran Church, Marietta attended the annual congre- gational dinner meeting Thursday night. The turkey was prepared and served by members of the congrega- tion unde the chairmanship of the social affairs commit- tee. The Reverend W. R. May conducted the business ses- sion when four councilmen were elected for the coming year: Michael Myers, James Reider, Russell Shirk, and Arthur Seigler. Retiring members are Gail Houck, Arthur Zuch, Harry Weaver and James Reider who is filling an unexpired term. The group approved the $45,605 budget as present- ed, $29,425 for operating expense and the remainder on the mortgage.
