Hall Sr., 60, 210 Ziegler St., Mount Joy, died Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, and was a teacher in the Sunday School for 3S years. He was an employee of Armstrong Cork Co. Born in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Benjamin Harrison andJen- nie Boughamer Hall. He was the husband ofCather- ine Brendlinger Hall. Besides his widow, at home, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Harold A. Hall Jr.,Bing- hamton, N.Y., and Karen A., wife of Michael S. Smeltzer, Abilene, Texas. Two grandchildren also survive along with one sister, Virginia, wife of C. W. Kimmell, Johnstown. A. J. PENNELL DIES AT AGE 71 Alvin J. Pennell, 71, of 815 E. Marion St., died Wednesday evening in Lan- caster Osteopathic Hospital after a brief illness. He was employed at the former Stehli Silk Mill until it closed in 1953. He then was employed as a janitor for Watt & Shand Depart- ment Store before retiring in 1965. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the church, and Lodge 299 Loyal Order of Moose. He was born in Mount Joy, the son of the late the Holy Name Society of Darwin and Florence Brandt Pennell and lived in Lancas- ter for 46 years. He was the husband of the late Catherine Doerson Pennell. Surviving are two daugh- ters, Barbara, wife of James Brown, and Theresa, wife of Dale A. Herr, both of Lancaster; one son, Charles J. Pennell, of Lancaster; three sisters, Edna Reisch, Florence Pennell, and Hazel Clements, all of Mount Joy, three brothers, James A., Bruce L., and Charles S. Pennell, all of Mount Joy; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. FLORENCE N. BRANDT Mrs. Florence N. Brandt, 77, of 144 S. River St., Maytown, died Thursday at her home. She had been under fhe care of a physician. Born in Belaire, she was a daughter of the late Reuben S. and Mary Bigler Ney. She was the wife of E. Ellsworth " Brandt. She was a lifelong mem- ber of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Maytown, and ser- ved as a Suknday School teacher for a number of years. She was a member and past matron of the Donegal Chapter 422 Order of Eastern Star, Marjetta. She was also a member of the Gettysburg sub-league.
