D. 1, Mount Joy, Pa. PHONE 653-5795 Vietnamese host sponsors Sa, Xuan, Hai and Hein Nguyen wanted to show their appreciation to their sponsors. The Nguyen family invited all members of the Glossbrenner Church to attend an open house at their new residence at 730 Church Street, on Sunday, October S, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Drew Mumaw headed a committee of Sadie Brooks, Elmer Dennis, Pat Eichler, Jake Stehman, Jim Gerber and Dab Nissley to get the family here to Mount Joy. Sadie Brooks taught the young wife to operate the automatic washer and dryer. Until the apartment was ready for them, the family spent two weeks with Mrs. Brooks, who quickly became ““Mother’’ to Xuan. She called Sadie ‘‘Mother’’ and wondered what ‘‘Mother”’ was planning when Sadie removed a piece of frozen meat from the freezer for dinner. Sadie explained the hard object would be soft later and ready for prepara- tion. It seems Xuan had no knowledge of frozen foods but she did say ‘‘Frigidaire”’ as soon as she saw the refrigerator in Sadie’s Kkit- chen. The family is studying at Elizabethtown College in the 1.U. 13 English Second Language Class, two nights a week. Dora Wittle has been a tremendous help, in that she has been tutoring the family in private sessions. The Gish, Dennis, Ryder and Wagner families have given daily support to our new neighbors. Sa, a frist-class cook, is now working at Stehman’s IGA, until a chef position can be found.
