Township discusses fire co. fund Mount Joy Township Su- pervisors will discuss set- ting up a permanent fire protection fund at their next meeting. At a Friday night meet- ing, a township solicitor, Henry Gingrich, suggested a fund to aid the various volunteer fire companies which serve the township instead of having the com- panies come before the supervisors every year re- questing financial aid. The supervisors decided - on the basis of a public survey not to aid a recreation program in the section of the township that is part of the Elizabethtown School District. A one-year federally fun- ded recreation program is now under way in the school district and the municipali- ties affected were asked for funds to continue the program next year. The survey showed 18 residents against and only 9 for the recreation funding. John Heisey, Mount Joy R2 farmer, was appointed to the township planning com- mission to fill the unexpired term of the late Paul Stauffer. The term expires at the end of 1978.
