A $5 occupational privi- lege tax, to be charged of everyone working within the school district area, has been recommended for 1975-76. On the advice of their solicitor, K. L. Shirk, Jr., the board decided not ot buy 18 acres of land available at - Marietta Depot. A secon- dary school requires 20 acre Boro asks The Mount Joy Borough Council balanced and ap- proved the Federal Revenue Sharing budget request for the amount of $33,877, for 1975-76. Larger items in ‘the request are: $8,000 for Project S00 park improve- ment, Phase II; $5,500 for Lawn tractor Hustler (1); $4,300 for 1976 police cruiser; $4,000 for storm sewer study; $2,700 for street program; $1,510 for police training at HAAC. Mount Joy Township will receive federal money in financing its proposed sewer project. Chairman Charles G. Bailey of the township authority stated that the federal government will pay 7S per cent of construction costs; if the project meets all state and federal require- ments. The state Department of Environmental Resources had assigned the local sewer project high priority for federal aid, and granted Fed. money for houses Old homes in Mount Joy may be rebuilt with assis- tance from the county redevelopment authority. Mount Joy Borough Council has asked that some of the $400,000 in Federal money allocated to rehabili- tation in Lancaster County be spent in renovating Parents to meet in Maytown Concerned parents and teachers will meet at the Maytown School, Thursday, June 26 at 7 p.m. to discuss plus an additional acre for each 100 students. The board decided to discontinue the driver im- provement class held in the high school. The registration of Mrs. Margaret G. Brown, junior high home economics teach- er, was accepted. Glenn Forwood, Mount Joy, was appointed to replace retiring Walter Brandt as custodian at Grandview. Quality Lines, Inc., was awarded a contract for removing refuse at $320 per month * during the school year and $40 a month during the summer. for $33,877 A contract for street resurfacing was awarded to B.R. Kreider and Sons, Manheim, R.D.1, for the low bid of $18,108.84. The same company was awarded a contract for reconstructing Plum Street from Main to Church streets for a bid of $15,850.25. Frederick Heagy, Bruce Avenue, was appointed to the Borough Planning Com- mission to replace Donald Fellenbaum, who has re- signed. Fed. money for sewer permission to begin con- struction. Since the project will cost between $3.5 and 5.1 million, total federal aid could reach 3.8 million. Sewer will be located in most densely populated areas of the township, on the Elizabethtown side of Route 283. The new systems cannot go into operation until the Elizabethtown borough sewage plant has been expanded. Expansion of the E-Town plant is about to begin. Mount Joy homes. It is expected that $10 million in Federal money will be available for Lancas- ter County within the next six years. The money is authorized by the Housing . and Community Develop- ment Act. Work could begin after July 1. the playground program and other school-community happenings. The public is urged to attend.
