D. 1, Mr. Carroll is Lay Lead- er of the Chester congrega- tion which is a ‘mission church’ undertaking a great work among the black pop- ulation of that city. Includ- ed in the church’s outreach, beside offering opportuni- ties for worship and Chris- tian education, are a tutorial program, a colorguard unit, athletic activities, and a clothing store where the poor can purchase items for a very minimal cost. All of these will be shared in word and picture. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers. St. Mark’s Church has in the past shared financially in the support of the Ches- ter congregation. One of St. Mark’s miss- ionaries, Miss Gertrude Bauer, who is serving at the Espanola Hospital in New Mexigo, will visit with the congregation on Wednesday evening, April 30th, beginn- ing at 6:45 p.m. She will talk to the children of the Bible |School and then will share experiences with youth and adults. Miss Bauer is - making this visit as a part of her brief spring vacation. The invitation to join in the information and inspir- ation of both of these even- ing programs is extended to all the members of the church, their families, and the Mount Joy Community. April 23, 1975 DRUNKEN DRIVERS TO LOSE LICENSES Drivers will automatically lose their licenses for one year if they fail to attend a drivers’ rehabilitation pro- gram after being convicted ¢ of drunken driving in a bill cosponsored by Senator Ralph W. Hess, R-28th. “Drunken drivers are un- % questionably the greatest ha- 0 zard on our roads today,” X Hess said. 2 innocent persons are maim- & ed or killed in this country # every year by people who “Thousands of are drunk and get behind nf the wheels of cars and at- 3) tempt to drive.” “We must put a stop to J this, and though I don’t ¥ think for a minute this bill is a cure-all, it is a step in the right direction,” Hess said. He explained the bill re- quires a drivers’ rehabilita- tion program of not less than 10 hours divided into four sessions. It will include lectures designed to empha- size the facts about drink- ing and driving behavior, the damage alcohol does to the brain and body, and al- cohol abuse in general. “The bill states clearly that any person who fails to attend the entire course will have driving privileges re- voked for one year in addi- tion to any other period of revocation related to the initial offense,” Hess ex- plained. “This kind of legislation is long overdue,” Hess said. “We must get tough with drivers who ignore their re- sponsibilities and makethem aware of just how danger- ous drinking and driving can be.” FILM TO BE SHOWN AT TRINITY E.C.C. A film, “My Son, My Son,” the true story of a family, will be shown at Trinity Evangelical Congre- gational Church at Donegal and New Haven Streets, Mount Joy, on Sunday, Arpil 27th at 2 and 7 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is invited.
