It is always interesting to visit the Cloisters at Ephrata, whether it be just to walk through the quaint old buildings, listen to the Vorspeil concert on a warm summer night, or attend the annual Christmas program in the simple ‘‘saal”’ or chapel. This latter thing we did last Tuesday night as guests of Akron friends. After a AZ CE LR Dela INS # \ “Christmassy’’ dessert in their lovely home, we made the trek in the cold night air to the quaint and rustic ‘“‘saal”’. The program was music ° and scripture. The Linden Girls’ School bell choir performed beautifully; the Cloisters Chorus sang several numbers; and the audience joined with the chorus in the singing of many beloved carols. It was all very simple but very lovely. The church was lighted by candles, and the chorus wore the long white robes which were the garb of the Cloister brotherhood. Following the program, we left the chapel by way of the Cloisters kitchen, where a bright fire glowed on the hearth, and a long, narrow table was set with earthen dishes. On our way to the _building where hot mulled cider and home made cookies were served, we passed living tableaux of the 7 Annunciation and . Nativity.
